The distance figure in the info sheet thing refers to the smallest operation between the orbits of the two bodies. not the two bodies them self at a given point in time.
However, it's worth noting here that this is the first object nasa has found of any reasonable scale that acctually has a trajectory that crosses earth's path within the radius of the planet. This probably means a collision is inevitable at some point, but it won't be for a long time to say the least assuming the calculated trajectories were correct.
Interestingly enough nasa's simulation ends in the year 2200, apparently they have predicted that we will have interstellar travel by then and our planet won't be of too much importance to us.
Or maybe their accuracy fall-off for trajectory prediction is 200 years. If they expected us to achieve interstellar travel they would have stopped updating it 200 years from the expected date, instead of continually updating it with a 200 year limit. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Becaue stealing things from other websites and claiming it for yourself, and then having everyone believe that you made it is just blatantly wrong; and since the internet provides vast oppurtunities to find whatever you're looking for without relying on a site that relies on plagiarism is very easy through the likes of google, yahoo, dogpile and similar search engines.
Once something starts getting obscenely big next to the planet I'm sure someone would get around to seeing it ("Zomg, what's that big burning thing in the sky that's twice as large as Venus?!"). Not that that really helps us defend against us...but I don't see us taking much action against projected hits in 2049 or 2016 or whenever, either.
Earth has had several near hits in human history. We usually detected them AFTER they passed us by. If all the amateur and professional astronomers were to sit at teliscopes at all times, the chance of detection would still be very small, and even if we did detect it, we would have nothing to defend against it (I might be wrong;are there any warheads or missiles capable of breaking orbit? not that blowing an asteroid up would help us). Still, no worries. Asteroids should be the least of our problems, as the chance of a collision is very very small.

Most of us feel VERY strongly about this kind of stuff. He wasn't ranting AT you, he was stating strongly the mistake you made.
You made an honest mistake linking to his site, but when you start defending a decision like that it comes off as support for his site which is only going to net you bad reputation.
So you're saying that linking to sites with stolen content is wrong, and will give you a bad reputation?
I'll start slow shall I?
YouTube Google Video YTMND
All sites with KNOWN stolen content. Wow, in one fell swoop, you felled pretty much 90% of the members of this board and they're reputations'...
And you're saying that Albino Black Sheep respects all copyrights, and pays correct royalites? I think not.
And for the record.
Get a grip.
And for the record a second time. Both sites mention the name of the creator. So credit has been given by both ABS, and EBaums. Please, check your facts beforehand...
All this because ytmnd.com has had a quarrel with eBaum's, and everyone's acting like it's the devil? I don't say that I approve of people who just take other stuff, put up a watermark, and post in on their website, but face it, like so many other sites, eBaum's is just a compilation of stuff that is more or less funny or interesting and if we were to remove all sites like them, a lot of us would be unaware of internet fads; a lot of us don't browse obscure websites for random flash stuff.

Thanks for putting words into my mouth, I appreciate it.
Ebaumsworld is not hated specifically because it steals content from other sites but because of it's history of other shady practices when it comes to what they do with stolen content. I mentioned the cases of them threatening to sue people who asked them to remove stolen material from their site, that is what really makes people dislike them. Also, Ebaums makes TONS of money because of all the adds on their site, so they are pretty much making that money directly off OTHER peoples work. When was the last time they created something themselves?
And with Googlevideo and Youtube the submitter has nothing to gain, not to mention the majority of things they host are original content created by the submitter.
Im not sure at all what YTMND has to do with things...
Lastly, Albino blacksheep may not credit all their sources completely (Though they have a cleaner history of them Ebaum) but they aren't making boat loads of money from advertising, infact I don't see any banners on their site at all.
Ebaums is scum because of it's history of making money DIRECTLY off of others peoples work, and in many cases claiming credit for itself.
Get a grip? Sorry Im offended by blatant thievery of peoples property. If it doesn't directly effect me I should just not care right?
I wouldn't bother Xyth. Some people, especially those quoting "It's the internet, it's just content!" and those referencing youtube/BLACKSHEEP (of all people), are just... dumb. There's nothing you can do here but roll your eyes and move on.
(Anybody using wikipedia to read about the controversy should make note of the edit history -- an incredible number of revisions and modifications by SpikeLee, whose userpage's discussion history has a lot of administrative condemnations for removing information from the ebaumsworld wiki and for vandalising the something awful wiki. His user info also proudly states the fact that he got over 2000 posts on ebaumsworld forums in 4 months. Wee!)

What is this? Why is everybody suddenly screaming at each other?
Look, it's really simple: The issue with Ebaum's World is that they slap a watermark on everything and claim it as their own, refusing to remove it when the authors complain.
The sites Lt. Patch lists (Youtube, Google Video, YTMND) are not quite comparable to that. They host content as submitted by users, unmodified (although they may reduce quality due to bandwidth restrictions, dunno). They do not claim the hosted content as their own property, and their administrators promptly remove copyrighted material on request. That's the opposite of what Ebaum's World does.
Now that that is cleared up, I sentence everyone to a course in interblag diplomacy 101: How to make a point without offending each other.
Not intended in a malicious way, but it might help if you practiced reading English and comprehending English...as it seems your grip may not be as firm as you may believe, Femme (not that I suspect you'll necessarily be returning to the thread, anyway). In this particular case, it may be of interest to know that the inpersonal pronoun 'one' (the only equivalent I know of in a foreign language is "man" in German) is seldom used in English, and is often simply replaced with "you", although it is not directly referring to the reader or anyone in particular. As in "since the internet provides vast oppurtunities to find whatever you're looking for without relying on a site that relies on plagiarism very easily through the likes of google, yahoo, dogpile and similar search engines," could potentially be more translatably written "one has many oppurtunities to find seperate sources or hosts for material on the internet, and it's unnecessary to rely on a site that is dominated by virulent plagiarism."
We now return you to your previously scheduled programming...
