Hardware upgrade question #500192.
<div class="IPBDescription">which graphics card to buy!</div>So my old card is about packing up due to overheating problems.. im looking to upgrade to somthing that will last me at least a couple of years.
I wanted somthing that will play WoW and make it look seckseh, and possibly handle a few of the new games coming out shortly (spore and perhaps quake wars)
The two I had my eye on were
<a href="http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-134-SP" target="_blank">This one</a>
and
<a href="http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-067-HT" target="_blank">This one</a>
if anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them.
though I wanted to stick to under £200 (inc. vat) if possible.
thanks.

This is your first mistake. The introduction of DirectX 10 cards has already happened, and DirectX 10 itself is soon to follow.
You're better off getting a cheap PCI-express card that'll last until ATI introduces a product to compete with nVidia's DX10 offerings. That's when competition in the market will lower the price of cards capable of "lasting a couple of years."

pre DirectX 10 nVidia cards cannot display HDR lighting and do antialiasing at the same time. If you're running games at a high resolution, this shouldn't be a problem though.

Don't mean to b*tch though, but why on God/Allah/FSM's green earth have you got HDR lighting turned on? The only time you'd be doing that, is for the 10 or so hours that any decent single player campaign would have you entralled for. After that, it's multiplayer time, and HDR goes out the window, because it really is not a multiplayer thing.
But serious, Quaunaut has the right idea, get a shiny new card, and when they get dropped to a lower price, SLi that badboy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Erm...because I like HDR? And I don't play any multiplayer games that use HDR? And if I did, I might keep it on anyway because...I like HDR?
'It's not a multiplayer thing' - to my knowledge, wall materials / lighting / atmosphere isn't a 'multiplayer thing' to a lot of people too. I like HDR, I like not having white walls everywhere, I like atmosphere...so quit yer 'b*itch'ing afore I get jolly on your ######. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/marine.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::marine::" border="0" alt="marine.gif" />
