<div class="IPBDescription">but these animations are amazing.</div>Oh, Internet. There's always some treasure to find within your vast resources every day!

Today, I found three short animations done at some art school called "Gobelins" in France, and quite frankly, they're absolutely astounding, so I thought I'd share.

The first video I found, and I think my favorite. Not only is it 1:30 minutes of pure pirate awesomeness, but it's some of the best traditional animation quality I've ever seen. Be sure to check out the "Making Of" videos, they kinda give you a feel for <i>just how much freaking work</i> goes into just 90 seconds of footage.

While Pyrats is almost totally traditional animation, almost all of this is CG animation. Usually this is a turn-off, but the animation here is so well-stylized I felt like I was watching a Looney Tunes cartoon. Plus, the ending always makes me LMAO. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

This one...Well, this one I just love 'cuz it's funny and I'm a gamer (can you guess what video game inspired this film?). But you'd have to be crazy to NOT love it. You'd, like...Have to NOT be a gamer to not like it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Enjoy! They're all really really really really really awesome. Especially considering these were all done by STUDENTS. I mean, they're like, PROFESSIONAL QUALITY stuff! But done by STUDENTS! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":0" border="0" alt="wow.gif" />

I believe I've posted about Gobelins in the old animations thread. Thou didst not heed me!

They're an animation school in France and those animations you've posted were entered into the Annecy animation competition, a competition strictly for student animators. As you can see, they constantly kick booty. You need to find the trailers Gobelins has done for Annecy. They're every bit as well done as those that you've posted. I would post them myself but I'm short on time.

I would really love to go to Gobelins just to study animation. 2d animation even.

A thousand pardons, my good sir. It didn't occur to me to actually do a Forum Search before posting.
