I am quite frankly shocked that people could get so low.

Id really like to get the word out about this atrocity to the HL2 community and expose these mod jackers for what they truly are.

this thread is now about stealing intellectual property and how copyright/licensing laws could be rewritten to protect creators and <b>promote creation</b> in the digital age.

Actually, this thread is to promote the PSA by the FireArms team in regards to the theft of their mod, and complicity by the hosting providers involved. Anyone who had followed the original FA (proud AUGger, here) has already read the blurb up on the webpage.

Short version, the FireArms team did not take the neccessary precautionary steps to ensure servicemark/trademark. If a trademark had been secured, then the FA2 team could have been litigated against for dilution of the name.. much the same way anyone slapping together 'World of Warcraft 2' would be eaten alive by Blizzard's lawyers.

I certainly don't agree with the situation as it played out, but it appears to be what happened. And advertising it will do no good... especially on the forums of an unrelated mod.
