Too bad I just switched to Linux XD . Maybe when (if) I can get steam running under Wine/Cedega.

Nice blog entry! I'll be getting the NS2TR for sure and mucking about with it.

By the way, your Verisign doohicker on <a href="http://www.zenofsudoku.com/buy" target="_blank">this</a> page seems to be out of date or broken. Le gasp!

I like the idea of NS2TR. Give mappers plenty of time to have stuff ready. or at least their main ideas.. since you cant properly make a map without detailed knowledge of the gameplay.

Holy crap Charlie, looks like your dreams are very close to be coming true. Unknown Worlds ftw!

NS2TR sounds like a great idea. But what interests me is that you said there was an NS1TR... Is such a thing still floating around the internets?

Nice work. I'll run steam tomorrow just to see this banner <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> (no time for ns; finals, yo)
I never tried NSTR, but would be immensely happy if NS2TR was renamed Skulkrace 2007.
I swear, it would be the next big franchise, like Madden big

    There a download in this <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=2175215059855190528&showtopic=99139" target="_blank">thread</a>

Unfortunately it's incompatible with the Steam version of HL1, so you'll need to have an original HL1 installation to use it.

Awesome news. I'm glad everything seems to be on the up for you guys. I'll be buying Zen this weekend. I've never bothered to try Sudoku, but if it helps support Unknown Worlds I'll give it a try.

Now all I have to worry about is the release of NS2. If it's anything like the days of playing NS there'll be... dirty washing collecting in the corners of my bedroom, dirty plates in the sink, the dog licking under the fridge because he hasn't been fed, a month of messages left on the answer machine, friends putting in a missing persons report... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Seriously though, I got so absorbed in NS games I could spend several hours playing without realising the time and every game was unique. I look forward to seeing how NS2 improves on the original.

Godd stuff man! I sure am looking forward to the technology release as a mapper! It's nice to hear you're not so horribly closed before as other mods have been. Being closed before release is a huge turn-off for fanbase and people like mappers and artist, so good job.

    I must also add that zen of sudoku looks sweet <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Oh and another question: will there be an earlier closed beta for constellation?

    Definitely release NS2TR <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> I would love to play with the dynamic infestation and such!

Thanks for keeping us updated. its really neat reads, i enjoy reading this much more than other game news mainly because you guys talk about the business side of things and the struggles.

    Solid work so far <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I'll be buying Zen to show my support. Great to see the dev blog updates are continuing - it's good to see things are happening, even when there isn't massive progress to report. (Progress on NS2 that is)

    i want ZoS too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

but as with many things on the internet, paying becomes a problem with no own creditcard and nobody there to lend you one :/

I'de like 100% of my support money going yo NS2, so waiting for constilation program to get back up. Although ZoS is pretty cheap so I may buy it.

Have to support NS2 development, so I will buy Zen of Sudoku. It doesn't cost too much.

I think the best bit of news in that whole blog is the bit where you say as licensees you will have access to the game engine itself.

With what you were able to produce within the constraints of the of the original SDK, I'm very sure you can produce wonderful things with the power to modify the engine itself...

Since you are "official Source licensees this time around", can we hear a demonstration of a high quality voice codec in the NS2TR? Please <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Seriously. I'm all for a non-20th-century voice codec being one of the "surprises".

Glad to hear ZoS is so enabling.

So, one thing i've been wondering. Since NS2 this time around will be retail over Steam, how does that work with the mapping community and the NS2TR. They make maps, they get into the game. Do they get any share of the profits? Or is it strictly voluntary work?

Although having a map in game/mod can be a big deal (seeing how some mappers have gone far IRL with their NS mapping experience in their resume) i still can't see alot of people actually just spending alot of time doing maps and not getting a piece of the cake afterwards.

    But mayby that's just me.

I think it's just you, otherwise mods wouldn't have maps at all. Sure this isn't a mod, but I think mappers who do it outside of their day jobs would be happy to have their work included in a retail release. People in the modding scene appear to be very generous with their time, when it comes to things they're passionate about. Can guarantee people will be passionate about NS2 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
