Growing egg

I think it would be cool to make the eggs grow (or shrink), depends on what lifeform is alien evolving into. It looks funny right now, when you see a little egg, and then a huge Onos pops out of it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

What do you think about it ?

If the developers and animators has spare time, I think they should try experiment with some cool morphing animations to go along with some slimy goo that covers the alien while gestating. It looks a little weird that the egg pops out of nowhere and disappears as fast as it came.

hehe i like it, but i can make problems...blocking stuff or squish in surfaces...what ever.

Grow things for NS2 is great.

I would actually say remove the egg entirely from upgrading. It would make more sense if an alien was just imobile for a few seconds and went through a "growth" animation of some kind in stead of going full egg. going from one alien type to another should certainly have an egg form, but I would say the current implimentation is not good.

I think the best method would be to give each alien an "into-egg" animation, and then the egg would be resized, and from that egg would come the new alien type.

You know, there's gameplay reasons for eggs. They're not just cosmetic.

As far as I know, the egg is already the size of the lifeform it is evolving into, so having the egg 'grow' is not a big issue gameplay wise. The real reason why it doesn't do this is because the egg is suprisingly low res, and stretching the image makes it look terrible and ugly. With source, if the egg can 'grow' without it becoming fugly and crappy, it'll definately be something to look forward to.

That, and without eggs, i can't have my customary breakfast of scrambled eggs and gorg--i mean ham!

seriously, though, growing eggs'd be nice, with a little more fluidity between the conversion from life-form to life-form. it's a tad jarring currently.
