Instructions:
1) See the rules.
2) Back-up or delete your \data\save\ folder if it exists and unzip the file there.
3) After your turn is over, zip-up the \data\save\ folder and upload the file on a file-sharing site.
4) Since I'm starting this I suppose I'll have to edit the line of successors with links. See rules regarding this.
Rules:
-Turn time is 2 Seasons. Once completed, save the game.
-No "split" bloodline games. We all follow ONE line (for simplicity's sake).
-Since this is not done via wiki (just because... don't ask why >_>), I (Zero7) will have to update the first page with successors. Therefore only the FIRST post for each turn will be accepted. If your game isn't accepted, please edit/delete your post. On that note, feel free to determine who will take over next amongst yourselves.
-Be fair. Let at LEAST 4 people play before taking another turn. If you play again, add a roman numeral to your name (lol succession, whut?).
-Include a description of your turn and screenshots (crop and resize them in IrfanView or the like and save them as gif/jpg images). Try to limit yourself to 5 pictures. 3 is optimal.
-Have fun.

History

Zuza Oxdu, The Domain of Griffons

1050, Home, Early Fall
I've been given the task of an expedition from the King. He apparently did not take it kindly to me courting his daughter... and his wife. At the same time. As a punishment I'm to take these worthless dwarfs and forge a mighty dwarven fortress in the middle of nowhere. I've been allowed a detail of seven other dwarves. All criminals. I'm sure the king would prefer us to find death here. The livestock we've been given are old and and their meat is tough, I hope they can still breed. Our pathetic expedition detail is given below:
Urvad Avalathel, Proficient Miner
Zas Melbiloddom, Proficient Miner
Cerol Thalaltosid, Nove Carpenter/Novice Woodcutter
Urvad Inodnir, Novice Mason/Novice Engraver
Kel Atolreg, Novice Stone Crafter/Novice Mechanic
Zuglar Oddomdakas, Novice Fisherdwarf/Novice Fishcleaner
Rakust Tathstukos, Proficient Grower
1051, Eshtandustik, Early Spring
After a long trek we have arrived a the cliff face. There are packs of horses and groundhogs roaming the wilderness here. They will make for good sport, assuming the groundhogs don't kill us off first. They're really quite violent. I've christened this earth "Smithboar", for my clan's history and strength. Orders were given to begin mining, and the gathering of wood was undertaken. We will have to work hard if we are to survive the winter. I've laid the groundwork for a grand main hallway, 6 tiles in length. This will ensure the future generations of Smithboar, assuming there are any, will be free of traffic congestions. The entry way is designed to slow down would-be invaders. Traps will have to be placed there, along with doors, later...
Good news, our miners have discovered gem deposits and great load of moonstone. They've also recently discovered a vein of silver. Assuming we survive, there will be great prosperity in the realm. I've decided not to follow the silver vein. My instincts tell me there will be greater treasures deeper... so deeper we will go. Not soon after the discovery of silver, I've found copper as well... still... my instincts tell me to dig deeper
15th Granite
The miner has found the river. I've begun construction of a bridge and hope to excavate land on the east side of the river for farming. The bad news is that the river flooded as soon as I hit it... we are unable to continue digging until the waters recede. Precious time is lost.
17th Granite
The flood water is receding, finally, I've laid out the plans for a grand dining hall and sleeping quarters while cavern was flooded. I will lay out the workshop areas and storage areas shortly. So much to do, so little time.
12th Slate - Mid Spring
My miners have fallen asleep, it seems the long travel and non-stop digging was too much for them. They must continue digging. The grand dining room WILL be completed.
18th Slate
They're starting to awake, finally. I've placed workshops in the main hallway for temporary crafting. Temporary food storage in the main hall as well.
6th Felsite
Dining hall is complete and the Miners have started digging out the storage and crafting areas. I've placed a small refuse pile inside to keep skulls, bone, and shells. They'll be useful for crafting later on. Also made a temporary stone storage in the dining hall.
28th Felsite
Laid out the area for Kennels to train war dogs, they will serve well in protecting the many non-combatants in this outpost. Also layout an area for some fortifications and barracks for future military needs.
1st Hematite - Summer
Nothing to report. I've built a door to block the seasonal flood waters from entering the main hallway, but there is a rock keeping the door open, and none of these dwarves seem to know how to move a specific rock. I fear for the worse. I'm expecting the waters to come on the 8th of Hematite. It will either be our saviour or our doom. We are running out of food.
4th Hematite
Crafting and storage areas are almost complete. I've created another food permament food storage and hope to relocate the workshops soon. Unfortunately, sleep has taken hold of my dwarves once more. Too many setbacks.
10th Hematite
The cave started overflowing on the 8th, as predicted, but did not reach our tunnels until the 10th. The rock was still keeping the door open, but thankfully the waters were not as violent as when we first discovered the water. There were no deaths.
24th Hematite
Laid out the foundations for most of the workshops. I've also designated a raw plant and seed area, west side of the river, but close to the farming plots.
15th Malachite
The Metalsmith has arrived with my first anvil.
28 Galena
My term draws to a close. I believe I've managed to advert the food shortage. If necessary the dwarven wine that's been brewed from the plump helmet can be cooked. I've erected two stone statues at the entrance to the fortress in my memory.

Quick notes: bones, shells, and skulls don't cause miasma.

Comments
1st Limestone
We're pushing deeper into the mountain but haven't found anything interesting yet.
*illegible* Limestone
The traders have arrived, so we've pulled back for now.
I guess we are still out of the kings favour, since they only brought a few parcels of meat, 15 in total. And a package of Dwarven Cheese. They have a lot of cloth though.
*illegible* Limestone
The farming area has been expanded in the hopes of harvesting some cave spider webs for silk come the spring or summer when we will hopefully get our first wave of immigrants.
1st Sandstone
Sleep has set on again, we've brewed most of our food into alcohol
We'll need more barrels to finish the job for the winter
3rd Sandstone
The traders have warned us that they're leaving soon, we need to hurry and get our last bin of goods to the depot... I hope the dwarves wake up soon
*illegible* Sandstone
We were able to trade for all the food, including the dwarven cheese
it only got us 20 units of food though, hopefully it will be enough
7th Sandstone
The traders hve left, we resume pushing deeper into the mountain and strike a huge cleft in the mountain
I have decided to fortify our position a little before we proceed past the Chasm
15th Sandstone
Our first wardog has been trained
19th Sandstone
Tthe last of our dogs has been trained, hopefully 3 wardogs will be enough
25th Sandstone
Stonefall traps have been placed at the entrance and river of the main area of the fort
We decide to resume pushing into the mountain
6th Timber
Tthe bridge over the chasm has been completed, mining has been resumed
15th Timber
We've struck a sphalerite vein.
1st Moonstone
Winter has arrived, so far we seem to be doing fairly well, but now the first true test is upon us
4th Moonstone
We have struck coal!
8th Moonstone
We have breached a river of magma! This will be invaluable for our metalworking...
If we can find Hematite ore to make the steel we need to make a magma smelter.
*illegible* Moonstone
Given the lack of hematite ore and the difficulty of making steel, I have decided to make weapons out of bronze instead. It has the great advantage of conserving our fuel supply.
2nd Obsidian
Unsuccessfull dig for Cassiterite off of the sleeping quarters abandoned. We'll need the passage anyway once we get immigrants though.
7nd Obsidian
Unsuccessfull dig for Cassiterite off of farming area abandoned
*Illegible* Obsidian
I have given up on the bronze for now given the lack of cassiterite. Refining of coal and smelting of copper bars has been begun.
28th Obsidian
My term has come to an end. Unfortunately I was unable to finish forging the giant axe blade traps, I will leave these to my successor. The fortress should be in good shape, we have plenty of food and alcohol, and the first crops should be going in soon once the river floods.
I have placed 2 statues in the great dining room to commemorate my rule.
