<div class="IPBDescription">FOR THE EMPEROR!</div>I dunno about you guys, but some time between the moment these forums went down adn the moment these forums came back up, I was shown this RTS by a friend of mine, and I'm helplessly <b>hooked</b>. I could go on forever about why this is such a great game, but when it comes right down to it, the #1 best thing about it is just how it <i>oozes</i> awesomeness out of every pore. The sound effects, the command reactions, the melee animations (Bloodthirster vs. Force Commander is so magnificent), the building animations, the theatres of battle...All of the little things add up to a very satisfying experience, and it definitely helps that the gameplay is great too.

So, anyone get Dark Crusade? As much as I love the Necrons, I'm thoroughly enjoying the Tau and their Drone Squads (easily deployable mines = YES).

P.S. Did you know <a href="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7533454468030652725" target="_blank">the intro video</a> was created by blur studios, the same guys who did Rockfish?

Have it for some time now. Had a great 3vs3 with my friends against some random guys. Took two hours, it was an epics battle all these two hours. In the end, we won <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Very fun game. Not perfectly balanced by any means, but very, very fun.

Looking at the win statistics though, I think Relic has done a decent job balancing it. I recently got DoW:DC and it's very entertaining, even if I do suck pretty bad at it.

Imperial Guard are the funnest to play. Basilisk artillery support + massed IG and HWTs.

I think the funnest race is most definitely the Orkz. I swear, they have the most hilarious lines, and there a great sense of satisfaction in watching a Warboss mutilate puny infantry.

Some mates of mine have been playing this as a break from starcraft to get our RTS fix. It's damn fun but I can't help but think that it's lacking a bit in the balance department. The necron lord's resurrection orb is just godly.

The other issue there is it's time dependant. If a game goes on too long, some races seem to get much better, simply because of good old caps.

For example, if you're playing Orks, and they're either SM's or Necrons, and you don't kill them in time, you'll end up with a situation where you outnumber them significantly, but it makes no difference because the invididual troops are simply unable to kill them fast enough, even in melee.

That said, it's certainly the most fun RTS for a long time, and I hope SupCom will look at it and think 'we need to go one better on that'.

Company of Heroes is basically Dawn of War 2; updated graphics and more nuanced strategy and all that jazz. That said, I never really got into either of them. I played all the demos and stuff and they were definitely fun, but really, I didn't see the point in spending $50 on a game that's a little bit worse than Warcraft 3.

Incidently, anyone else notice the quite blatent hint at the end of Dark Crusade?

    Please let it be true <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Company of heroes is an incredible game when it comes to strategics and tactics, but I never like the whole scenario. The Warhammer thing is just so much cooler. Having little heretics (thats the builders from chaos) say "Yes lord, we will build it for you" "FOR THE CHAOS GODS" in a gulum like voice is just too cool <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

/me turns crazy and grows horns

Edit: My test was posted twice Oo

That's your perogative of course, but quite alot of people consider them better then Warcraft 3. What about them both makes them slightly worse then Warcraft 3?
