I would have fishies if they didn't require so much work. And if the aquarium ever breaks, you're in for giganto water damage.
But fishies are cool. And relaxing to watch. I wonder why potheads don't have aquariums to sit and go "whoa" at. Probably because they inevitably try to fashion the entire aquarium into a bong ("duuuuuuuuude, I could TOTALLY make a bong of that!") and kill the fishies in the process.
oh btw i made a vid of the tank too

and an older vid of the 3ft when it was just set up

<b>A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE</b>
those of you who dont own a marine tank and are inspired. I would personally like to warn you that this is a hobby, it is a hobby because it costs money and takes time and effort.
alot of hard work is needed and alot of care is taken into keeping marine fish alive and well.
the tank i have atm has cost me so far well over $4500 AUS dollars, from the tank to the fish and the necessary items like heaters, chillers, pumps etc.
marine fish arent for people who dont have time to give the attention the tanks need, Alot and i meant ALOT of careful reading and learning is needed before setting up a marine tank, along with patience and care.
a general saying most reef hobbyist say
<b>What can go wrong WILL go wrong</b>
I used to own a fish store, once upon a time, but got out of the business. I'm planning to set up a new tank with some old stuff I have in the garage... a 55 gal main tank with a 30 gallon refugium-slash-wet/dry filter. I just haven't settled on lighting - it's one of the things I'll actually have to go out and purchase <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Nice to hear you're enjoying your bicolour blenny. Sometimes those guys have nasty attitudes.
Do you have any sifters for your substrate? Whatchacallem... garden eels... are so cool for that. Cept sometimes you get individuals who never come out :/
as for substrate, i have a sand sifting starfish which only comes out at feeding time or when he feels like wandering up the glass.
I also have 2 trochus snails and 2 peppermint shrimps which help clean the tank of scraps and algae. i dont see the peppermints much they are nocturnal.
I keep a sump in the bottom of the tank which holds a deep sand bed and a whole pile of caulpera taxifolia to help with nitrates.
so far all tests have shown my tank is clean. the algae is doing an excellent job keeping my nitrates at 0.
old photo but this was when i transferred everything from my old 25gal to the 3ft tank
<img src="http://www.opticpower.com/kylie/other/3ft/000_0604.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
it shows the sump in the bottom where my dsb and algae is, theres alot more algae in there now tho. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
who has some fish tanks to show? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
I like fish, but I don't have any because I would feel kind of bad sticking them in anything other than a giant Olympic-sized swimming pool. I mean those guys could have lived in the ocean, but no, they get stuck in my little fish tank.
re: peppermint shrimp... they're native here in Texas, you should see out on the jetties at night, take a flashlight and shine it down between the rocks and there's thousands of the buggers!
Do you have any moonlighting?
as for corals, corals arent plants and are living organisms, they have moods and even show anger and sadness with sudden changes of water quality and temperature.
the way i see it with the reefs dying and bleaching due to the rise in global temp, i feel that one day reef tanks are what will save whats left of our reefs and will one day beable revive what we lose from aquacultuing and breeding in captive tanks.
I think you have to be really pro to maintain <b>sal######er</b> fish. Props V-.-

Hahahaha.
GG, forum filter.
Still was tempted to photochop a Marine helmet and visor onto a fish in a Sherman. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
They do however have little baby guppies from time to time, which tells me that I'm doing something right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
oh and they aren't sal######er guppies btw XD
Actually, I thought that the noun was hyphenated. The adjective, however, isn't. So while salt-water is hyphenated, sal######er fish ain't.
rip to blacky <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
guess ill need to find the mrs another mate..
