    Wouldn't the correct word be imbalances, Ben? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I really like the new c-12 area. The area round PSJ on ecl is great aswell. Much more balanced than before.

    PS:

    BEN I LOVE YOU

    ecl:

I like the changes to the ceiling architecture in sloop, it makes it easier for skulks to go up/down the walls; I wish you could walk directly into the vents, however. A slight elevation on the vent opening makes it a pain to get into (seamless would be preferred). Was that intentional?

I think the PSJ change is a HUGE enhancement over what is used to be. The open spaces are advantageous to rines, which is a welcome change. I also think the new vent slit in PSJ was a much needed addition.

MS feels so naked and exposed, but I think this would only expedite the aleins' MS end-game cleanup, which is a positive change.

CC also feels naked, but only visually. The ground water was pretty garnish, but it mostly served the purpose of an unnecessary combat obstacle. I won't miss it.

Minor (with the exception of PSJ) changes overall, all of which I think are positive.

btw ben, could you tell me the env_gamma value for your maps?
and do you probably know it of all the other maps too?
  • MrBenMrBen ns_eclipse, ns_veil caretaker Join Date: 2002-11-14 Member: 8575Members
When you load the map it tells you the gamma change. It's the random number you get on the centre of your screen when you load it.

The changes are good and make sense! Good job MrBen!!!!

One question Ben, are you in the NS2-Team, too? Because the maps you made are the most famous maps, and I would like to see you working on NS2!

As long as ID don't hire them to do something as similar like Quake 5 or Doom 4 or something stupid like that. Although hey if they're working on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Which I think is RavenSoft) it might be worth checking out. Bit O/T there, maybe KFS can fill us in on what he's working on next? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Based entirely on just walking around the maps for what its worth:

C12 changes: I like'em. Might be too dark in that hallway though... and I can totally see that nub fade of mine catching that black thingee sticking out of the wall because I couldn't see it (just before you turn into the room with the rt there.) But the more I talk about it now, the more I remember it later so, meh, whatever. Not that I'm against the darkness actually, just the black thing in the dark that sticks out to catch me. Ha!
    All in all, nice polish.

PSJ: I always liked those walls for skulking. Made for nice tight quarters. Might be too open now? (Openess is not something eclipse lacks by any means either imo.) Mind you, the missing wall in marine start should be nice now.

I'll try to post some real feedback later after I've played them with other people.
