<div class="IPBDescription">making a bomb out of a res node</div>I thought maybe a commander can choose to overload a res point to create a reasonable explosion the node is destroyed but the damaged outpost remains.

Senario: Marines have captured a room and built a res node, a phase gate, a turret factory and 3 or 4 turrets. Your basic outpost, near the res point and moved on. Now say the turret factory is destroyed by skulks and fade they start to chew on the phase gate. The commander acts quickly and overloads the node. its starts to rumble and spout puffs of steam and smoke an indication thats its overloading. It explodes killing skulks, lerks and gorges in the immediate area.. non fatal to fades and onos with full HP, takes say 1/3 damage on all buildings marine and alien in the immediate area. marines have an opportunity to phase in and re sercure area.

this is rather pointless, why have an ability that is only used when withdrawing, ie after loosing a particular battle. The marines cant use it to make any real gains, it might cause a minor hinderance by killing a skulk but thats similar to having a few mines left lying around a destroyed/recycled phasegate.

Why would you use a tf + 3 turrets when it is cheaper and more effective to electrify the rt in many cases? And if you have an electrified rt, you really don't need to blow it up.

Its not about backbone most ideas seem to be shot down on this fourm ive noticed by the purist who want to see NS1 on source not something new and inovative like the first one we came to love. so instead of flaming people for not liking my idea i'll take it as constructive critisim go back and rework the idea. just give me some time to think it through.

lots of ideas are good, eventually ones a breakthrough <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> but building upon the success and good structure of NS would be important for any sequel
