If there is an "favorite alien"-Thrad, there has to be a "favorite weapon"-thread! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

My ranking! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />

I like lmg/pistol best, nice cone, still spits out the damage if you hit, dont have to worry about dying where the guns can't be recycled, its lighter so you can manuever better, dont have to spend time humping the armory after you pick up a different gun, you dont feel bad about sacrificing your life to block the fade, you can chase the hurt fade/onos better, etc. You dont get as many kills later in the game as with heavy weapons, but I go whole 30 minute games with just the lmg and still end up on or near the top of the scoreboard (unless some superhero is playing).

I love HMG for taking out higher life forms, if i get an hmg thats pretty much what i do. other people can take out the skulks, or if they jump into the line of fire they die in 5 bullets anyway, my sensitivity is a little high for hitting cel fades with a shotty, but im pretty good at following with an hmg/lmg as they run away, or blocking. onos <1 clip, gotta love that. Thats a good reason to go celerity or carapace onos. If you don't, you'll get solo'd.

shotties are great for leap skulks, you dont even have to aim, just pull the trigger right before they bite. also great for stealing kills, but thats pretty much counter productive everywhere except in combat. celerity lorks can be bothersome without a shotty, and its good for early fades if you or your teammates can block. When I'm in the zone with a shotty its definitley my favorite/best weapon, but if im not then I end up doing hardly any damage. That and I hate picking up empty shotties(or even half full shotties), I would a million times over rather keep my lmg after phasing through than pick up even a 5 shell shotty. I've let soo many fades/lerks go and lost so many pgs because of picking up that damn empty shotty.

GLs . . . they're nice for taking out WoL and for nuking spawning skulks and the hive at the same time, other than that I just lay traps for fleeing fades/oni . . . four nades through the exit right after they kill/start to leave = dead whatever. Forget trying to hit them directly unless its an onos running straight at you. If you're lucky then you'll get all 4 off and kill yourself too.

Knife: I'm not as good with the knife as I should be it seems . . . . if i run out of ammo its pretty much suicide nade or reload, chances are i'll time the knife wrong and die anyway. You can usually dodge most skulks once to reload your pistol if you're in that position anyway.

Hand nades I love, but they're just an auxilary too my lmg/pistol loadup, they're great against cloaking, dumb skulks, and groups of skulks/phase gates. if you get bum rushed by 3 skulks from the same direction(when you werent expecting it, so like running cloak or something) you can lmg them up, and if you didnt manage to kill one, but hit each of them a few times just bust out the nade and take them down with you.

    Mines and LMG.

Stupid as it sounds, mines are my primary weapon against skulks/lerks/fatties in CO. I drop the dot and herd my foe onto it. LMG fire is usually enough to soften up carapace enough that the mine finishes the job.

Then I die when his buddy finds me.

hmm i really like the LMG because it has a short reloadtime and does enough damage to take out skulks/gorges. For better Lerks and fades i prefer the Shotgun since it deals good and fast damage.

I also really like grenades since they do a great job in supporting your primary weapon. This may be just telling you if a skulk is in the next room (there is a specific soudn if the skulk got hit, so you can tell where it is) or by killing skulks behind rts/ larger groups of aliens.

    So...

    1. LMG
    2. Pistol
    3. Knife
    3. Grenades

give me this basic kit and i am happy till Fades arrive.

Level three shotgun just dominates if you know how to use it. It's even good for Onoses if you have a jetpack.

LMG/pistol/knife. Sucks when the fades come out and you are forced to use heavier weapons.

Shotgun is by far the most versitile and satisfying weapon.

Lifeforms, Structures, Teammates; you name it, it kills it quickity quick!

And it makes a big noise!

Shotgun. Hands down #1 for me.

    - Over all good weapon - spread, ROF, damage
    - Reloads 1 shell at a time. No need to worry about long reload times.
    - Crushes structures.
    - Can pop skulks/lerks in 1-2 hits

There have been <i>many</i> games where I would suck as a marine because I'm such a good team player and I'm so selfless I'll run around building RTs, base building, welding in the back while noobs almost lose the game. Then I'll accidentally pick up a shotgun and totally pwninate all aliens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />
