<div class="IPBDescription">For marines</div>So as an new research (like in grenades and mines section)
The commander can research Cam modules :

CAM Module :: This small cam module can put on any metal surface. But it can be fast destroy.
Damage: N/A Rate of fire: N/A
Clip size: N/A Max storage: 1 cam
CAM HP: 20 HP
Cost: 15 resources Requires: Armory and Observatory

<img src="http://home.tiscali.nl/janvr/robot/jpg/cmucam2.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
example

A marine became 1 cam module at start, he can put the cam module at any metal surface.
(new button in controlls) you can view a small window (refresh all 5 seconds a picture // NOT REALTIME... or maybe yes))

You know you can click right mouse button and you have a menu ..say, reload and stuff.
but now you can move the cam view with the mouse to your best position <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

And <b>MAYBE</b> after a time period the energy from cam module is empty and it will be removed after 120 seconds.

It would be extremely usefull if one could place a cam somewhere in a map and see it in a small screen in the corner of your screen while playing. Aliens should be able to destroy it with one bite or even by walking over it so you'd have to hide it really well.

    im sorry, i think you begin sarkasm <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    i mean :

    - Cam modul item
    - can put on metal surfaces
    - it can be destroy or the energy is low it will be remove
    - the player, who put the cam can see the cam view after he put it.
after he put the cam and the cam viewport is open he can close / re open it with a new button
    - an obsevatory and armory are required

This idea is very possible and im pretty sure would be easy to implement. And Maybe it would be great for keeping a eye on the hives you have locked down. But then the aliens should be able to destroy them too. Or in the source engine.. Knock them down to the floor

Maybe also something simular for aliens. If someone is standing next to a sensory he can use it as a camera and check out the views around other SC's. the ones closest to the marine CC would appear first, if you click, next one.

Marines would be able to check their cam constantly while aliens would have to seek a sensory and stand still.
A marine cam however would be visible and easy to destroy while a sensory is invisible. so when a smart gorge ninja's into the marine start you could always check out how many marines there are and which weapons they have, until they have obs nearby or ping the area.

How about like in starcraft (I know we use it alot in this game). But have a little lerk like thing, be a observer and you can fly around very fast. but if you get hit once it dies.

Scanning is our cameras, that or observatories, no need for cameras :\.

but you cant scan the hole map....

    so i can say, why you need grenades because there is a grenade launcher <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I think that Source's entity input/output system would make something like this very easy to implement in multiple contexts.

    Consider:

Marine cameras that would give a live feed to the comm when the rine was selected

Station cameras that would be present in the station and could be destroyed by the aliens (some in the open chewed off, but some shielded would require aliens to find the wires in vents and bit them) but would give the comm a preliminary view of the base and if the aliens didn't disable them then the rines would have an advantage for more of the game.

Placeable (as suggested cams) could give the comm more info on what was going on in the map, if for example the commander HUD was made up primarily of a 3d animated model of the map.

Right now I think that a lot of these things really depend on how the commander interface is dealt with.

Why not just have standard sercurity cameras in the map, rather than a marines got to research then place it. Otherwise you would get noobs placing them in stupid spots all the time, and if a commander has to cycle through the camera feeds it would waste his time.
Just have standard sercurity cameras are not working at the begining of a map and marines can run around and weld them back into operation.

OK i think that is a much more feasible idea. Indeed noobs will randomly place cameras. Your idea > the original.

Seriously though , what purpose would a camera serve a comm? It would be eye candy to see three cameras full of action but...........to what purpose, maybe single player, if it were cut scenes but other than that.........who ever dropped *window cam 1* and the comm called out that aliens were about (near *window cam1*)......would mean little to them if 4 rines dropped a cam each because the only thing they would be concerned with is their camera i.e. cam rambos would become the norm............they toss a cam out where they think it is the best place to toss one and then camp it................not only would they want ammo/med drops but would now have a comm camera view of where they are to argue that the comm is worthless because they were under attack, as seen on the cam, and the comm refused to notice. Not that the comm would have other things to think about.

The idea of cameras is great but I would toss the comm in a bad light and would sometimes be used for lameness.......imho.
