<div class="IPBDescription">Your Thoughts</div>So, I dunno what to think of it. On one side, the battle system is much better than the old, but thats not saying much. The gambit system is a bit too general-use until late game. And the game having points where you either run, or lose the game, doesn't feel like very much fun(considering its hard to tell when these are).
Normal fights ramp up in difficulty quickly, as well. But I love the character development overall, and the story is top notch thus far. And geez- this game is one of those games that make me wonder how most of the XBox 360 games STILL look worse than it. And I honestly think, thus far- best music a final fantasy has had.
What're your thoughts?

I've been told the laser needs replacing but that sounds uber expensive.
I'd love to play FF12 but don't see how- unless you guys can offer repair advice?
There's a bit more info <a href="http://www.playzen.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=411" target="_blank">here</a>.
(Sorry for e-highjacking! FF7 rocked, FF8 was okay, FF10 sucks! I wanna try 12!)
8 was pointless. Whiny emo crap. I stopped playing after about a half an hour, and threw it back into the 'used' bin.
9 was okay, but mostly as I named the guard '######', which ended up in laughing fits at random points in the game. Also, Vivi was cute. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> The chocobos sucked though.
X was more whining and ego. I think it's keeping a table level for me, but I can't remember which one, nor do I care.
X-2 did not exist. Nothing that retarded can possibly continue in this reality.
XI ended up boring after a while... no decent parties, nothing to really *do*, and you ended up dying a lot regardless. If you didn't end up dying, and actually found a decent group that worked together, you ended up backed into a corner somewhere, farming the same monsters over and over for exp, so you could go off and do the same to higher level monsters. Yawn.
Tactics was awesome. I'm regretting refusing to sell my original copy, from before the game went Greatest Hits. :b Three hundred plus bucks, now down to twenty. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> Tactics Advance did not exist. Too craptastic to achieve recognizance.
XII... well, yeah. Penny Arcade summed it up. At this point they're just milking the franchise, knowing that sephiroth-fanboy <b><!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->retards<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></b> will always cough up the fifty bucks when another FF game comes out. But hey, that's a benny of owning the IP rights. I'm just waiting until they dress everyone up in party hats and clown clothes, just to see how far they can go before people realize they're being f***ed with.
7 was okay, but they needed a better villain. Kefka would have slapped that ***** stupid.

Yeeah...nice job flaming dozens of people. By the way, I don't like Sephiroth, but I bought FFXII. I guess I'm still a retard. Thanks Talesin, I really appreciate that. Also btw, if you think their milking the genre, try 12 with the rather radical changes they've implemented. These changes are libel to kill the series then help it, but they did a damn good job. Sheesh, you'd think you would have retained some tact from being a mod.
And of course they're milking the IP. It's what companies do to make money. They didn't need to call it 'Final Fantasy', they could have created a freestanding world, with gameplay mechanics radically different from any of the rest of the series. What's that you say? They do that almost every revision of the game, never really coming back to the same location or time period? And they only name the series FINAL FANTASY out of brand-recognition, so people will purchase it?
Quaunaut, give the wounded ego a break, and think about how much an oxymoron 'Final Fantasy 12' truly is. Originally named that as it was to be Square's last game, but ended up pulling them out of the final throes of bankruptcy and company-death. They've milked the brand recognition and IP to keep alive, and HAVE created some pretty awesome games. But it doesn't mean that they aren't milking the IP in this case, to get your money.
And it's 'admin', not 'mod'. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
Have fun not playing FFXII!
Er... unless you actually have testicular elephantitis. In which case I'm extremely sorry to hear that, but no, you can't borrow my wheelbarrow, even if you sterilize it afterward.

FF's marketing also sucks. I wouldn't watch James Bond's 21st film if it were to be called James Bond 21 so I really don't expect a game called 12 or putting it in Roman numerals to dupe consumers. Milked more than Zelda and Mario.
Its with great scepticism and suspicion that im about to buy ff12, but reports say its better that the last 3 installments, but thats not saying much tbh.
FF to me is a way of saying that it's a game that will retain references to other FF games, and quite possibly a fair amount of the staff and general themes (and therefore, 'similarity'). Other than that, my breakdown goes something like this:
FF6: Best. FF. Evar.
FF7: Load of crap. Hated all the characters and couldn't give a damn about the rest of the game.
FF8: Pretty. Whiny, bland, and made absolutely no sense - but pretty.
FF9: Enjoyed the gameplay and some of the characters.
FFX: Gorgeous. Whiny protagonist and the game was way too easy - but I still loved it, especially the world that they created for it.
FFX2: I am beyond words. FF is dead to me.
FFXI: I'm so bored I don't know what to do with myself.
FFXII: I need to understand more of how to play it better (for lack of a better phrase), but definitely intriguing.
FF7 < Chrono Trigger < FF6 < Secret of Mana < Zelda.
