<div class="IPBDescription">Valve Updates HL1 engine to support HL1</div>Didnt exactly know where to put this; and i know some people came here asking why there game was crashing when trying to join NS servers (It was because of IE7)

But now, IE7 is compatible with NS/HL1 mods. So...yeah.

Just a heads up.

EDIT- I think firefox 2.0 messed up the link...none of the links i post in these fourms seem to work, ever since ive switched to FF 2.0...

URL seems to work fine in 2.0 . You just posted it wrong. Maybe there's an extension you're using that is causing a conflict. Try creating a new profile and see if it works for you then.

Btw, you don't need all that extra crap on the URL . <a href="http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=news&id=802" target="_blank">http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index...news&id=802</a> would have worked fine.

Properbly becuase the HL1 engine uses IE as a component (COM) object to view ingame html.
Since the COM interface to IE 6.0 is different than IE 7.0, the HL1 engine crashes for incompatible reasons between the two versions of IE.

Now I wonder why they never tested it before they even released it to public. But then again, they never do that.

The IE problems were caused by a feature added to half-life after the steam release. Half-life servers can redirect clients to a webserver ( sv_downloadurl ). When half-life gets redirected to a web server, steam performs the download using an embedded IE component. The changes in IE7 caused a crash in half-life and valve stated that they do not support beta Microsoft products. I think Valve released a fix to this issue a couple of days after IE7 was officially released.

but with their update, they caused a bug and now some players like me have keyboard/mouse lag while playing, and the bug dissapear when we record a demo or it lag less with setting hl.Exe priority to above normal. Valve doesnt do anything to fix this, like its not their fault.
It seem its a conflict with the mouse and keyboard drivers and HL(or any mod), when you uninstall them the bug is gone.

See here people having this problem:

    its very annoying to record a demo each time you play... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />
