network troubles in linux
I'm running the halflife server on debain 3.0 unstable; the server is working; if i add it as an internet server, manually tying in the ip addy, it works just fine. However, if i go to the LAN games screen, it doesn't show up. Any ideas?

I am running samba, if that makes any difference.

There's really not enough information given to help you with this. What is your ultimate goal? Do you want it to be an internet server or a LAN server?

If you want it to be exclusively a LAN server then you need to set "sv_lan 1" in your server.cfg file. If you want it to be a internet server it sounds like you have it working.

The only thing I don't know is if you are behind a firewall/router and where your computer is in relation to the server. I'm going to guess that your personal PC and your server are on the same network and are behind a router connected to the internet. Going on that assumption you, on the same netowkr as the server would type "connect (YourInternalIPHere)" in console while everyone else would use the typical internet game browser way.
