Forum testing

What's stopping the forums from being released to the public? It's been a month since testing was opened to old forum members.

Also, any ETA on 3.2?

The admin tools are being developed right now. Most of them are in place, but right now Zoc is working on a system for lost account recovery in anticipation of a flood of queries about accessing accounts. The mailing lists are getting a slight bit of rework too, and there's a couple of minor bugs. I'm not going to give an estimate on how much work Zoc has left, mostly out of respect for the enormous effort Zoc has put in, but also because I'd probably get it totally wrong and create more frustration. It is true that the forums have been back for a month, and that from a forum user perspective most of the visible changes were completed shortly after the stress test began, but in this month there has been a significant amount of work that would not be visible.

3.2 is almost ready and waiting for constellation testing, which will begin shortly after the site release. Right now, the plan is to release the site and fix up the constellation donation system afterwards. We aren't planning to delay constellation testing for this, but many people have been asking us about taking part in the 3.2 constellation testing, so we'll have to give it some thought. All of our core objectives for 3.2 are complete. During this delay, we are working through some nice-to-haves ( some of which are very nice to have ) but if push comes to shove we can back out those works in progress.

The objective of constellation testing will be to help us assess the gameplay and balance impact of the changes, as well as to find and fix bugs and performance issues. In the mean time, I'll look to publishing another preview of 3.2.

I spoke to Zoc today and he said he's got next week off, and he'll be concentrating on the forums.

(This isn't me giving an ETA. Even I'm not that stupid.)

Hi, CAL-ns shut down last night. Does anyone but me feel it's time something actually happened?

Let's keep the negativity to a minimum guys. I know you love having us work on free games for your enjoyment for years at a time, but don't berate us for it.

I know it looks like nothing is happening from your perspective, but if you're going to post something, don't add to the problem by telling us what a terrible job we're doing.

    wow.
    ######s.

I think the huge effort that Zoc has put into the forums, Flayra into getting PR done, merkaba into machina, puzl into more 3.2 stuff all shows that things are actually happening on UWE. Yes, things might have been slow for the last year for UWE, everyone had a lot on their plate, but be reminded, they're not getting paid for this kind of stuff, so theres really no reason to get negative at people for not coming out with a FREE game or releasing FREE boards for you to post on and enjoy at a time in which isnt convienient to you.

Grow up or get out. Please.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you! Ever had troubled periods in your life? I think you didn't like being subject to stresses when trying to accomplish something, uwe doesn't own anything to us so far and still 3.2 is going to be out for testing soon. I don't remember who recently said it should be called 4.0 instead of 3.2 just for the amount of changes, so it's not that nothing has been done during this year.

I don't know what is sickier, if the poster or your 71 days playing wow (oh well I have 45 anyway so I should shut up myself)

By the way I'm curious about how much NS merchandise has gotten around till now... I'd have bought something myself too if not for the shipping costs... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

If ford offered me a free pinto I'd still dislike them. Mismanagement isn't any more forgivable because it's free. I'm joking either way, but this "It's free and therefore doesn't deserve to be critiqued/judged" additude is pretty lame.

I think the point was to keep sarcasm to a minimum, not avoiding every kind of criticism/judgement.
