<div class="IPBDescription">Weekend of *&$#</div>Well, I started off my weekend by taking a mid-term and then buying Valkayrie Profile 2. I get home load up the disc and start playing, one hour into the game the screen goes black. I turn off the television (first time this has happened) and turn it back on with no avail. After some quick google research I come up empty handed and so I go out to eat dinner. When I come back I turn on the tv and to my surprise it actually shows picture, I'm about to start my ps2 when the picture goes out again. The next day (today) I wake up to find the television is just as bad as ever and that my external harddrive is also not working.

Questions: Is the television fixable in your opinion or do I need to purchase a new one, what is the best way of doing this if I have no car?

My external harddrive is not working though I'm unsure if its due to the enclousure or the harddrive itself. I'm using a laptop and I'm unsure how I would check this. Anyone know how I should go about this?

Why do the cow hate me this weekend?

First, swap and see if the TV will show normal video. Find out if it's the TV or the PS2 munging up. If it's the TV, I'd recommend just getting a new one... repairing your current one is expensive, and if it's started to fail, it's going to go out catastrophically. The way designed obsolescence works... keeps you buying new product. It sucks, but the new TV would be cheaper in the long run.

New HDD enclosures are about $20. Just grab a new one and swap the drive over. It's more likely to be the drive itself though... HDD enclosures aren't all that complex.
