Our resident modeller/spammer told me on AIM just now that he's leaving in a few weeks, for real. THIS IS HIS REQUESTED THREAD.

I have almost no other details. Chrono may be able to answer any questions posed here.

My question: What the **** chrono?

Speaking of the military, what ever happened to Zig? Last I heard, he was joining the Marines.

The forums went down before we could hear anything more about his stories or experience things. I think I recall seeing him on a server or IRC channel at one point, but I think he was mostly a creature of these forums.

Joining the Air Force is probably the wisest choice , if you're interested in killing people. Given the technological advances of that branch of the military , and the low accuracy standards of the current administration , you can pretty much do your own thing with impunity. Well you might meet some annoyed people in case your craft is downed , though.

Yeah, the Air Force is a really good choice, especially if you hate Canadians, because we're up to two instances of "whoops we strafed the Canadians" and it can only go up from there.

its pointless to fight for a country that isn't free anymore, dont do it. You can find a better paying career outside the military life.. You sign that paper and they will OWN you

Look, I don't know what kind of crap you hippies are feeding him, but no other job on earth is going to let you strafe Canadians. I guarantee it.

Big pros, big cons...unfortunately one of the cons is being asked to drop bombs on targets that for all you know might not be what you've been told they are (<i>hospitals</i> in iraq/afghanistan, for example). Personally that kinda outweighs the cons, unless the military really is the last resort you think you have, in which case I suggest you do a U-turn at some point in flight and take out your government headquarters and all those plucks who pimp the army like its respectable career. I can have respect for soldiers (if they earn it), but I can't respect the army (until it earns it...which with the U.S.s track record seems a long time coming). I love that recently military coup in Thailand...completely passive takeover whilst the prime minister was out of the country. If the U.S ever did anything like that to remove the president...for the right reasons...I might die of joy.

Anyway, I don't really know what to think...good luck is all I can say, and may god be on your side. But most likey god will be on your targets side too, and its the same god (as all gods are one.)...so that statement seems rather futile in retrospect. So I guess I'll stick with good luck, and please don't blow up many hospitals.

Frankly, I'm almost jealous. Ideology aside, being an airforce pilot is still damn awesome.

In any case: Chrono, are you actually going to be a pilot? I think everyone's assumed that you are, though there are many other jobs in air forces.

Well, I'll agree to that...who'd deny they want to be whizzing around in the air at speeds of over 6,000 mph...

Me and Zig kept in contact for a while, but he sort've dissapeared a couple months back. He seems to pop on AIM occasionally and I don't notice, though.

as of right now since im not a college grad yet, so no. tuesday im getting my physical taken then im being shipped off to texas for bootcamp. after that i get shipped to some other training place in mississipi then im off to colorodo springs to go through the airforce academy. which is basicly a ivy league school but run by the military. after 3-4 years of that i go through officer training then become a pilot. i got a long road ahead of me till i go 6,000 MPH but its going to be worth it =]

If the president orders the military to do something unconstitutional, they can just go "**** you" and not do it. It's peculiar how many military personnel forget about that.

But yes, I wouldn't call America free. I'd still join though just for the training.
Chrono I don't know how it is in Amerika, but I'd join the reserves. That way you can always quit.

Air Force, eh? Thats cool. Just came back from a going away party for a buddy of mine in the Air Force. Hes getting shipped to where ever, so not going to see him in a while.

I always forget the name of the base in Texas, but I know I'm 4 hours away. What it calledagain.

But yea, cool you are joining the military. Personally, I'm going to join Coast Guard after next semester, for college money and such. Good luck in basic!
