Anyone else see the newest adaptation/ version of the famous battle of Thermopylae?

This version is based off of another one of Frank Miller's grapghic novels.

Hopefully it wont suck. Im liking its differnt look. Cant wait for it to come out.


but yea, nothing makes for a better story than a good ol last stand.

And this is prety much the historical mother of all last stands too.

300 Spartans and 700 Thespians vs 2.4- 2.6 milion combined persian army.

The Spartans sure needed some Onos power stat. Too bad the rest of greece was too busy playing games at the Olympics. :/

    Well, at least during one part of the trailer they're lined up in a phalanx formation.

    ...How do you write a 'graphic novel' on historically based events? Especially if you throw in giant rhinos and Nubian diplomats to Lacedaemon...

    (For those that can't see it: it is quicktime based...I'm sure plenty of people around here hate quicktime (heck, I have it and I hate it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ) and therefore don't have it).

    The same way you make a movie or write a book. You take the facts and spice them up a bit. For those that can't wait for the movie, check out the graphic novel <a href="http://www.amazon.com/300-Frank-Miller/dp/1569714029/sr=8-1/qid=1160121531/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-5699342-8788767?ie=UTF8&s=books" target="_blank">on amazon</a>. It's a great read, and probably my favorite Frank Miller work.

    I saw the trailer a few days ago, they are pulling it down anywhere it gets put up, I guess the creators are mass mailing cease and desists, because the trailer is frankly really cool and it's no wonder that it's catching on so much.

    this movie's freaking sick; can't wait for it.
    jw though, the scene where he kicks the guy down the well... it flashes to another scene with a guy falling with a hood on, but the black guy he was talking to didn't have a hood... it just looked weird

    yea like testament said, if you look at the zoomed out scene u can see the guy who gets kicked and a few of his guards standing around in the group with the hoods. Must be they al got tossed in.

    silly nubians, should have had JP upgrades by then.

    I saw this on the big screen before The Departed and had a <i>serious</i> nerdgasm in the theater.

    On a side note, The Departed is amazing and if you like Scorcese you should go see it.

    So, I don't want to hijack the thread, but how does The Departed compare to Infernal Affairs? I loved Infernal Affairs and I can't wait for The Departed to show up in theaters over here (29th Nov).


    As for 300, how is that going to be like? I'm not exactly familiar with Frank Miller novels, the only thing I've ever seen being Sin City (the movie) and I'm having trouble picturing the Battle of Thermopylae in the same noir atmosphere. I've been deceived with Troy, although it was fun to watch, but this truly looks amazing. Then again, trailers always look amazing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    Never seen Internal Affairs, but by reading it's IMDB entry, you will probably like/love The Departed.
