Does anyone have this. I remember the HL mod and how it was pretty cool for the first 5 min. but other then that, I really dont think it should be pay to play.

Wasn't it like the sims? You have a hunger meter, a fun meter, a bladder meter, etc.

Thats the only thing that sounded interesting, but I never played it on HL1.

    Um...no. Not at all.

The Ship was a rather large fad mod that had a ton of potential thanks to a geniously simple game design, and a skilled art team, but remained a 'fad' because of the rather lackluster map design that made it difficult not only to differentiate maps, but to have truly 'cool' gameplay beyond "Don't get sent to the slammer but otherwise be as homicidal as possible."

I've been thinking about getting it because frankly, "The Ship" seemed like a number one candidate for needing a Source Update.

    I was close enough.

It was a pretty fun HL mod! I'm afraid I just don't have the money for games right now, though, otherwise I'd be going for Ep1 and Ep2 (I really want to get my hands on Portal, wow).

If anyone has screenshots, could you post them up please? Ones that you've taken, I mean, not ones that I can find online. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

I played it for a week or so... it seemed that the alternate gameplay style they were going for didn't really work out. As much as you try to drape extra things over it, a game where you can run around and kill people will always be treated as a deathmatch game by the players, unless the game itself FORCES you to play otherwise.

NS being the great case-in-point. Yes, you can just run around and shoot aliens. And be quickly overwhelmed by tons of higher lifeforms. If you don't get map and res control, you get quickly slaughtered. Unless a game enforces its play methods by rewarding poor play with ugly death, people won't play the game the 'right' way. They'll just play deathmatch.

Unfortunately, at the moment it seems that we're paying to beta-test it. There are a large number of bugs that should not have made it into release.

Also, it's basically the same thing as the HL1 mod with better graphics and an improved interface, so if you liked that then you will like this. For $20, though, I don't know if it was really worth it...

I've played the original HL mod a few times and I couldn't get my head around it...

Another crappy Steam release. Honestly: Do you think ANY game (except MAYBE episode 1) released on Steam was actually good (or new or exciting)?

DOD:S wasn't much a difference to DOD. And Darwinia wasn't that a new idea. But hey, whatever floats your boat, mate
