Sugestions?
Like so many probably already noticed, a lot of players get boored quickly of loosing. They see that their team is loosing, and they either quit the server or cowardly skip teams to join the winners. A bit sad to see such lack of... well... guts or patience. Personally i like to stick around to the bitter end, but its hard when all of a sudden your team is down to 3 players facing 7. TEAMS!!! TEAMS!!! TEAMS!!!... and who wants to join the loosing team when you just spent maby 1 1/2 hours fighting your way to victory? Completly understandable.
Now im not sure what, if anything, could or should be done about this?
Maby an option to vote on surrender? i dont know... any sugestions?
Also, anyone who played Day of Defeat 3.0 knows about those cutscenes in the beggining of the para maps. It might be cool to have some sort of Victory/Defeat Cutscenes in NS, to rejoice/beAshamed about when Winning/Loosing.
Coments on this?
Also, i forgot to search for any topict like this so sorry if its a replica

I still belive in a surrender vote of some sort... With a nice little cut-scene to congratulate on your victory / Laugh at your incompetence
Im not saying it should be easy to surrender ( like kicking a commander). 80% votes needed or so? it would just be preferable to having people quitting the server?
Anyone have any comments on the End cut-scene idea?
The marines surrendered, and there's this cutscene...
The "Marine surrender" cutscene, "shows aliens racing into the marine base, skulks, fades, and gorgs.
It shows the marines trying to fight back, but then the skulks are too fast, and start rippin em apart. from there, there could be a upwards shot of the commande console, and aliens approaching it, while marines have a little circle.
But is should need "many" votes, maybe it should even require the winning team to vote.
Meaning this: a vote of surrender occurs. 80% or so of the surrending team has to vote for it and 33% of the winning team has to vote ALSO.
In this case both teams have some jurisdiction and it seems fair. Makes more sense, one team surrenders and the other decides if they accept it or just wanna mow them down Ok, maybe a little harsh but hey it sci-fi
Me personally I like staying on the team and fighting to the death. I find it very challenging...but as u guys mention, its a shame that so many ?smacktards? just leave the team...
cheers...
Maby there already is a way to put this in on a server to server basis.. i saw a server today that had put little numbers indicating damage drifting upwards from an enemy or enemy building when hit by an alien. I asusume it was like that for the marines as well.. Kind of helpful for beginners to visually confirm that youre actually doing damadge...
Those last-ditch firefights at the 'rine base, sowing mines like you're dealing Klondike, hearing the gargling and snuffling of the Bug Horde as they round the corner can be terrifyingly exhilarating.
I'll never forget some kid who was playing Bug screaming "Not fair, not fair!" and swearing his pointy little head off during the conclusion of a particularly satifsying game. He was moaning that the Bugs only had one hive, and calling us every name under the sun. The fact that earlier in the game the bug had two hives and were hardening the area around their third seemed to have been conveniently forgotten.
Gah... it comes down to sportsmanship. If "only winning is fun", then you should go play something singleplayer with God mode on.
If a server has weak alien and marine teams even a situation like that could be a long standoff.
I have also noticed the ready room bug. Without a server time limit I'm not sure the game would ever end, and most servers I've been on don't have them. Additionally, sometimes when I've hit ready room key I'll be stuck in a part of the map.... usually near where I was but I do get ported a good distance. In this case the new game can't restart unless the map is reloaded. ;\

as aliens we couldnt do smack because no class could engage the outer outposts since they smacked 10 turrets protecting them... lerks tried but along comes someone in HA and repairs anything and naded the vents...
we couldnt loose
marines wouldnt attack
the game was drawned out for hours
we couldnt advance
it was a stalemate where the marines did nothing and aliens couldnt do anything
Also, if you are on the winning team and it has taken your team 1-2hours to get in grasp of the win, it's a bit hard to tear yourself away to even the teams. You want to stay there to relish in what you helped start. I know that sounds sad, but we've all been there I am sure, you've put in some hardwork and you want to enjoy the win cause you deserve it.
All the game needs is an auto team balance system.
One I think might have been aliens that got fed up and wanted to get a jump on the next map, but from what I saw of the others when I beamed in they had just started within a few minutes.
A big hurdle to making this mod fun is getting people to actually try the Kheraa. I have never ever ever ever ever seen a person waiting in the alien corridor to spawn in when someone goes marine.
Autobalance would be nicely coupled with forced join, or an idle kick timer.

Btw... i know this cut scene thing ive been babling about, the major part of that work is up to the mapper. but there has to be some sort of code comming from the game to enable it, right?
Also, what can a mapper control in terms of gameplay in his map? Can i make a map with custom spawn rules, weapon/evolve/spawn limits and certain rules? ive been thinking about getting in to mapping for quite some time, and this NS theme really gets my head spinning... i love Sci-fi
Under 1.01 I rarely have complaints playing Bug.
Bug Rox.
Bug plaid with even a semblance of right can now 0wn 'rine with relatively effort (compared to winning as Frontiersman)
