What happened to it?
I wouldn't mind seeing the vet icon back outside of the NSA Vet's server. Just wondering where it went.

Entry: "The devs decided we were a disposable commodity and pop the vet program went"
Defenition: Devs didn't have the time/too busy to keep up with the amount of organization needed.

The devs decided to open up vet status to any clans who signed up. This was supposed to level the playing field for the ati tournament that would follow the release of 2.1 by giving all clans an equal chance to get used to the new build, as the previous vet program was just the top tier clans.

Once people realized that any 6 people could just sign up (the scrimming rules were never enforced), there was an influx of players that weren't up to the old vet standards and the general asshattery led to the elimination of the whole vet program.

Right so instead of keeping the vet program alive and having useful insight from very active clan players we have PT's who don't have the game installed. NEAT

When ever I see a playtest going there are at least a dozne people on the server. Mustang is usually listed at the top with twice as many kills.

My opinion is the vet icon should be something individual servers can control, done by steam ID.

In this way servers could decide who gets the vet icons. Are they the MPV guys/gals who are nice to everybody? Are they the top 10 players on the server? (which would work off whatever ranking system is used)

The debate on who deserves a vet icon will never fair if it is standardized. And giving the vet icon ability as a reward system for the individual servers will allow them to make their own systems for it.

That is what I think is the best solution by far to this debate.

Or use it as a second constellation icon.

Perhaps for those who donated before 2.0, and the whole mess arised.

Edit - I mean as a "These are the guys that saved me the first time I needed help, and these are the guys that saved me the second time" Not that the people who donated first time round are better than the later ones.

You could do that but for what reason? If admins want they can give players dev icons.

The Vet icon was removed when the auth system was overhauled by the new UWE website (last January). Just getting the CM/PT/and Dev icons correct was a herculean task because of the changes that were made, and there would have been absolutely no way to even approach the problem of giving out icons to individuals from a group that had been disbanded for literally months at that point. The only way it is available now is by using it as a custom icon, like is seen on NSA.

Based on what has been said so far, I can't see this thread being anything but people bashing the decision to remove the Vets, or bashing the PTs, and as such I'm going to lock it.
