NS now requires Steam to play, just like every other Half-Life mod. You're not going to find any NS servers to play on without it.

Actually you can play NS on Won, but it's a little buggy in places. Copy your steam NS folder into your WON HLDS and play like that. One you do that you can browse servers as normal I think.

No you cannot WON was shut down so you will now have to either do it via lan or a dedicated server and join via ip

Install half-life from the CD, and get the 1.1.1.0 patch on it from fileplanet or somewhere.

Then download <a href='http://www.steamlessproject.nl/v2/index.php?lang=en&pagenms=pagenms/hl1111&page=hl1111' target='_blank'>the 1.1.1.1 patch</a> from steamless, and copy the files into your sierra\half-life directory. For the Client(s).

Download <a href='http://www.steamlessproject.nl/v2/index.php?lang=en&pagenms=pagenms/hlds2&page=hlds2' target='_blank'>this for the dedicated server</a>, if you plan to run one.

What these patches do is change the master server list from WON to WONv2.

You need never have owned steam, or anything related to steam, except a store bought copy of half-life.

Once everything is installed, use winrar on the NS installer, and extract the files to the folder "sierra\half-life\ns"

The only bug is with written communication, when you press your say key, it will show a grey text box, but the letters will be lines. However once you press return to send the text, everything is fine.

There is alot of hldm/cs/tfc servers atm, NS 3.0 setrvers pop up every now and then, but aren't up long. The system just needs support. Thier version of vac even supports 3rd party games too.

Whats the point of WON2? Steam is fine. I don't know why people keep whining about it.
