Gamespy is reporting 245 servers with 682 players

Steampowered is reporting 405 servers with 892 players

And the NSSB is reporting 388 servers (372 active servers) with 1109 players

These all are significantly different (I define significance by +/- 40 players)

How is this the case?

Which one is right ?

    I base my opinion on my faith in -mE-, who scripted the NSSB and is an excellent coder. The master query runs very 30 or 60 minutes, I don't recall. And GameSpy is WAY off.

    I'm unfamiliar how often SteamPowered queries or why their numbers are off.

    Maybe NSSB is counting the bots as players, and the steam-browser isn't?

    Unfortunately, for some reason I am unable to reach the master server to ping new servers, perhaps a reinstall will fix that.

    -mE- just updated <a href='http://nssb.psix.info/en/browser/servers/' target='_blank'>the NSSB (Natural Selection Server Browser)</a> to display more information for each category.
    Servers running any plugin are now marked with a gear and the plugins-page now displays the amount of servers running each plugin.
    I also readded the player-statistics for each server back in (which have to be fixed though).

    Things to be done:
    - Add search-engine
    - Fix statistics
    - Fix timers
    - Add rules-page
    - Add <i>real</i> maps-page
    - Apply design for plugins, statistics and maps
    - <i>Want me to add anything? Just tell me!</i>
