Me Going To France...

...to get a jorb
A few weeks ago someone posted, that he applied to be a GM for Blizzard Europe in france and so I thought, well I could do that as well.
I applied and this guy called and asked me tons of questions, like: What would you do if two people argued about an item and such.
The interview was going well (ok I was killing general Drakki in UBRS exactly when he called and I play a priest but meh) and then he comes to the money question: You need 2000€ to get an appartment in france... I was shocked at first. I don't have ANY money.. really.. nothing... just like, you know... 0.
But today... I was at the bank and they give me 2000€ for a job, that I'm not 100% certain to get and I don't have any income. I'm so happy.
The guy from blizz sends me an email in 1 and a half week and I will be invited to a meeting in france... yeah well 5 hours in the car.. but thats worth it.

This is a GM position, right? Essentially you get paid to beat the **** of h4x0rs and b0tt0rs, while on a massive power trip?
I mean, that's gotta be satisfying. I probably wouldnt make a very good GM though.
What with my policy of hunting down and slaying hackers from their contact info.

The fact that they are willing to help you move somewhere else shows that they really need GMs. The demand is high because WoW is such a popular game.
Amazing.
You see, the French system -in fact France in general- is the very epitome of bureaucracy. For things like opening bank accounts, applying for a French ID card, etc. you will need duplicates, in some cases triplicates, of your birth certificate and passport. You may even be asked for the original copy of your birth certificate. Some landlords and even estate agents ask for the names and addresses of two French-speakers, and proof of their identities, who are prepared to be held financially responsible for you (pay the rent by law if you don't/can't). For this they ask to see their last x months of bank statements to personally check their credit history, and stability and rate of income. At video rental shops they ask for a Driver's Licence, Passport or French ID card from you that is returnable when you return their film.
Finally, prepare yourself for the AZERTY keyboard. The straw that will most-likely break the camel's back

Good luck with the interview. If don't know much French and it's required in the job, try using what you do know (if any) in the interview to show that you're willing to put the effort into learning the language if you get the job. It also shows that you can apply yourself to new things, which is useful in most employment situations.
(Sorry )
But uh.. I guess I can plug-in a german keyboard.. if not I will bring one
You get used to the typing quite quickly, but it's the random keybinds for games that can cause real frustration.
You're a lucky man Blizzard are sorting out your accommodation.
