As the last mod team I was in has shut down, am currently on the look out for any mod teams looking for a mapper. I mostly enjoy working with terrain, rather than city settings.
Some of my work.

Their last update was July 2nd... And they're putting together a new big media release as well, with another gameplay video.
id be scared to try and map for a mod like that.
i didnt think so many teams were in need of mappers
and considered for CU you could well be...
- What program do you use to map and for which engine? (you've been very vague so far, it looks very much like Source but I'd rather not assume)
- How much free time would you have per week to commit to a TC Neo-Fantasy 3rd Person Adventure Source Mod?
- Which was the Mod you were working on? Also please catalogue your previous mapping experience (for all games eg. scenario editing for StarCraft, etc.)

Judging by your work I could have a interesting proposition. The Mod I'm leading, writing for and will be mapping for is still in the Pre-Production phase, but fast-approaching the time where I need to assemble the 2D/3D Artists and coders.
The game takes place in a fragmented community that revolves around the influence of Citadel Utopia, a vast clifftop city with a commanding view of its sprawling denizens below. It is here in this mountain ascent that the leadership resides, the one entitled: Citizen Omega. Nor face, nor features could make this title recognizable to the public, as little is known about the identity of its bearer. All that is known is that they are seated at the highest tower of the Citadel, from which point they might gaze upon the distant lands that lie beyond their construct. They are the lands of other peoples, those who see little more of Citadel Utopia than a towering silhouette on the horizon.
Your job would be to create the outdoor sections of the surrounding city and the citadel. Essentially my aim with the mapping is to create the natural (freeflowing mountainous terrain) and then incorporate the man-made (the Citadel and the suburbs). My reasoning for this is that the Citadel was built in a time without access to the sort of construction equipent that would allow one to shape the land as he saw fit. As you can see, you'd play an pivotal role in the Mapping Team.
Here's a link to the site which is a pile of wank and bears no reference to the potential of this project (I apologise profusely, but it has only served the purpose of hosting the forums up until now, as work on the story has taken much longer because it has developed into such an important element of the game). On the Forums you'll find some info in the Game Info section.
If you're interested PM me for the Citadel Utopia Design Document and more info.
You can also find us listed on the ModDB: mods.moddb.com/4480

If you're not interested in that, I'm sure Valandil would fit with your mapping goals. I'm not sure, however, if they need an extra mapper. But an open application probably couldn't hurt.

Below is a statement soon to be released on the site, I'll post it here so that you can get a feel for what we're aiming to achieve with Citadel Utopia.
Nevertheless things are coming along nicely with the gameplay concepts and certain elements of the story having received much more definition.
Just in case any of you weren’t aware, the Citadel Utopia game concept has been written completely from scratch. I’m very conscious of how the Games Industry has entered into a habit in recent times of churning out a very similar list of titles. Instead of diversification, bigger games companies are swallowing up smaller studios and consolidating their efforts on producing games that sell, rather than those that innovate. The wealth of fresh game concepts that represent for me the Golden Age of the 90s (yes something good did come out of that decade!) seems but a glint on the horizon that Games Developers have since turned their backs on, with increasingly generic titles being spawned and propagated as commercial ideals supersede the basic needs of the gamer.
I view Computer Games as an art form, not just a business designed to generate executive bonuses on a ‘per units sold’ basis. In the last few years we have seen CGs evolve to the point where their development at the highest level demands a studio made up of teams to take care of each of the various ingredients that goes towards a winning recipe; to me the parallels between the Games Industry and the Film Industry are becoming more and more apparent. If this is the case, and the Sport/First Person Shooter/Team Deathmatch/etc. blockbusters are those that are increasingly gaining themselves a stranglehold on the market, would that make us humble Mod-makers the independent film-makers of the Games Industry?
While it is true that the most advanced CGs can no longer be made by a coder with a flash of inspiration and a lot of spare time on his hands, free access to professional tools has allowed the Modding community to flourish. Despite the fact that a much bigger team is needed in order to compete with the industry standard this international collective has been growing and shadowing this new approach to Games Development every step of the way.
So I'd just like to remind you about the Film Industry analogy once again and introduce our independant effort at the anticliché:
crispy... sounds very professional, il check it out

crispy your mod sounds great but mostly single player based, im looking more towards multiplayer, so i can tie it in with an assignment i have to do over this summer and then my final college project (although it doesnt start to late this year)

Valandil? Yeah right. Terminus Discord is the medieval mod of the century
TD is looking for mappers too, and the majority of our maps are going to be outdoors. You can tell the website isn't finished fully yet; we also have a profile on ModDB here. And yeah, we have more stuff done than is shown publicly

I would like to suggest again Caliber. It's being made by mostly NS players, and so it will be a type of gameplay that we will love. (Teamwork oriented and epic battles)
http://calibermod.com
There is the full story written out there, and also it tells about the game in the about section. There is an active forum community, and the mod really appears to be going places. They've got some great coders, modellers, and skinners, and they've also got a few good mappers. I would really love to see you start making maps for them. They've already had two media releases and I think around three or four interviews. The media releases are trailers showing in-game action. The first one is an engine test basically. They put in one of the types of players in the game, and they were trying out the guns and stuff. Not very in depth, but the players were animated beautifully and everything. The second shows off more of the effects, and also the level 2 creature. It shows off a shield effect, and also dents that appear in the players armor after getting shot. It wasn't as action packed, but showed some more progress. They have been working hard to put together a third media release, and from what I have heard it is going to be a big one. We will probably be seeing the level 3 creature of the Vamin team, some new maps, and I'm not sure what else.
It's got a great story, a great team, and is made up of great people from the NS community. What could be greater then that?
edit: Fixed!
That'd you probably get admin on all the NSA servers plus a reserved slot. But really, Caliber wouldn't be hard to map for. The map in those pictures looks good enough to me.
