Problem with ever increasing pings.
Has anybody yet come up with a way to stop the pings slowly increasing the longer you play? after about 2 hours everyone on my server had 500-700 pings and eventually we all gave up. i've tried various solutions from renice'ing the process to modifying some cvars in the CFG, but the problem remains I tried all the suggestions I could find on the forums.

Only seems to happen on a few maps (or that its really noticable). I think I may take these maps out of my rotation. There is nothing we can do now other then the usual fine tuning techniques to keep these pings down. Also setting a low timelimit so that the map changes after every round will stop the ping from getting too high.

Pings are going to increase on all maps right until the end becasue whichever team wins, they will have gone and built loads of bases all over the map and as they're doing this they are creating more and more entities for the server to handle. So basically its a trait of the game and theres not much you can do to stop it happening

Yeah, also NS has some problems clearing up entities after a round change, so you'll need a map change to completely clear the lag (as posted in the server tuning thread). Hopefully it'll be able to manage the entities better as the patches progress.

which is why if u make the timelimit 15 or so, 1 round and map change!

I definitely don't want to single anyone out here, but it would be potentially very helpful to us mappers if you could tell us which maps seem to be problematic. It gives us something to investigate and maybe we'll figure out what to avoid in the future. If you don't want to post this on a public forum (which is perfectly understandable), feel free to PM me with the info. I can make sure it goes to an appropriate place.

    Thanks.

This sounds like all the entities aren't being cleaned up properly, and if that's the case, it's easy to fix. I'm on it.

I don't think its any fault of the mappers, the two worst maps are:
    ns_hera
    ns_bast

Hera is my favorite map too =/ Flayra posted an explanation as to why these maps are worse then others, it is in the Server Tuning sticky thread.

Flayra, you rock! That one bug has been the most annoying to me as I have to tell my admins to manually change map whenever pings get up to 400-500.

Good luck and thanks for all the hard work you do.
