I got fed up with the Chainletters I used to get. I've never gotten a "help such and such by doing this" chainletter, I always get the "send this on or <x> will kill you".

The one that finally did it for me was one about if I didn't send on this chainletter about a little girl being drowned, at night, she'd appear on my ceiling and strangle me. So I made my own one (this was about a year ago). A seriously over the top one, that started with a girl stepping in some dog **** while walking down a river path, and ended with her falling in the river, being attacked by crocodiles, and having a power line fall on her (there was an elephant, helicopter and lion involved too). If you didn't send it on she'd come and wipe dog poo on you, or something.

That was over a year ago. I got the same message back (altered very slightly but it was definately my completely over the top parody one) about 3 months ago. Humanity hurts.

Delete all chain letters... or they will keep coming.

one could almost make a chain letter about that... people who actually enjoy these would be very confused.

"Dear reader, it has come to our attention chain letters cause cancer of the pupils... and it is our civic duty to put an end to all this chaos. Delete any and all chain letters that you come across in your mailbox or baby seals hugging puppies while being pet by a dozen infants will be squashed under a pile of cold hard steel. send this to everyone you know 4 times."

Yes, because i'm sure the starving people in Africa give a flying **** whether or not you put a 3 in your name.

If you really care, donate some money, sign a petition, join in with a protest march, e.t.c.

By all means show your support for "Making poverty history", but unless you've actually DONE something towards the cause, you're not supporting the cause at all, you're just trying to make YOURSELF feel as though you've actually done something worthwhile. Which you haven't. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I agree. The original message was hypocritical. You're still mocking the tragedy by trying to one up the original message with your own however. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Please explain how I am mocking the tragedy. Kthx.

I agree with the majority of you guys on this and I have stopped recieving stuff like that since anyone who does gets blocked (friends too although its more of a weeks quarantine in their case).

Quick question for you all though, do you still buy red noses/ribbons/poppies/armbands etc that support charities? How is that different. You should give the money without being able to wear something for you to wave at people "look how charitable I am everyone, I'm wearing *insert here*"

Red noses e.t.c I can live with. Sure, you're still saying "LOOK AT ME, I DONATED MONEY!", but then it's not so bad since by paying for the nose you actually DID donate money. Plus the noses are just cool.

Those sorts of things are a general thing you do year after year or periodically. The new found make poverty history campaign will be more of a one off for most people who are just buying wrist bands as a fashion accessory.
