Creative Zen Touch

Is it worth it?
For a while now, I've been considering getting an mp3 player, and the one thats caught my eye the most is the Creative Zen Touch (specifically the 20GB version, mostly coz I'm not rich enough to be able to justify the cost of the 40GB, but thats besides the point).

Has anyone here got, or had any experiences with, one of these players? And if so, is it as good as the reviews that I've read say it is? Is it worth the £150 I'd be spending on it?

And before you start the "OMG!!! IPOD ROXORZ!!!!"-fest, I know what the iPod is like, my dad has one.

And for those thinking "whats that when its at home then?" Its one of these.

Well I've not tried it myself yet but it's certainly the one that my eye lingers on the most in shops, reviews are pretty good about it too. (I've heard that the earphones that come with them don't do the player itself justice, supposed to be amazing sound quality but the earphones just don't do it any favours).

I have had good experiences with the Creative players, I had a Zen Xtra 30GB myself a while ago, and I had absolutely no complaints about it until I dropped it and it died (the cases for the Zen series do not stay on a belt very well, they fall off very very easily). A guy at my work has a Touch, and they're absolutely perfect for bringing to work, because they have a better battery life than nearly every other MP3 player on the market and will last through the work day and the commute with no problem. The only problem I have with it is that it doens't have quite as many features as the Xtra, and the interface is not quite as good.

In conculsion: if the extended battery life is really an issue for you, get the Touch, otherwise get a plain old Zen Xtra, the xtra is cheaper and has more storage.

Or you could always go for the Rio Karma, which has better sound quality than either and fits better in your pocket.

I have a Zen Touch (just got it a few weeks ago) and it's serving me very well. I've no experience of other players though so I haven't anything to compare it against I'm afraid. The interface can feel a little clunky sometimes and the scrollpad is oversensitive even on the lowest setting, but those are the only small complaints I can think of. As mentioned above, the battery life is awesome - one full charge very nearly lasts me for a whole week (1hr/day at the gym, 3hrs/day travelling to school and back, and some extra use in classes too)

Mrs Maus has a Rio Karma, and she loves it. In fact, I would have got one myself if I'd been given a choice (the Zen was a birthday present).

I have a Zen Micro, and it's very well put together. If that helps at all...

The software is easy to use at least, assuming they use the same software, which seems logical.

I have the Micro, it broke very quickly. The headphone jack thing was not originally very strong at all. I believe this has been fixed now though, and Amazon have said they'll send me a replacement or a refund. If I ever get round to sending it back.

I have an iPod and I'm not crazy about it, and it doesn't sound like you needed me to say that

I'm really posting here to ask why iPods are so popular, since I have no input on Creative players... I would have picked another player if I bought it myself, but the Pod was a gift. It plays music just fine and the battery life and storage are just fine, but I loathe the damn scroll wheel, and it lacks any nifty features... leave it to the mac people, supporters of the one button mouse, to make such a dumb interface...

I've heard good things about them myself. Better then the buggy Dell Jukebox thats for sure.

And I went to sign up for that contest they have going to win one, until I saw " DRAW IS OPEN TO COUNTRIES IN ASIA REGION ONLY."

    So yeah.

I bought mine not too long ago, so maybe it's a newer model? A friend of mine also has one, but he bought it short after their first release. His is pretty much demolished. So maybe they have fixed them.
