Yeah, that was pretty fun Snidely. Although the gunfights sucked and those bastards that snatched your wallet... grr. >_<

Although.. this pic, no way its even going to relate to something that will be the GTA we'll see soon. Its too doctored and hardly looks realistic. Everything is so computery and looks like a square its not even funny.

Cmon, don't get all upset over the fuel management thing. Remember how everyone reacted when rockstar said you'd have to eat? It turned out to be not a big deal at all; you make a stop maybe once every hour of playing, more if you're doing a lot of running. So, this'll most likely be the same; not game-changing, but enough to notice it occasionally.

I think fuel is going to be different. It turns out you don't have to eat unless you don't stop to save for a few days of game time; I was never required to stop and eat a meal until I started doing some of the stuff that requires long play sessions (such as the driving school).

A fuel system, however, means that you'll always run out of gas eventually. I've always liked to just cruise around and do nothing while I listen to the radio stations in GTA games, and this change would kinda kill that for me. I'm hoping you only need to fill up after thirty minutes or an hour of driving; if it's something like ten or fifteen minutes I don't think I could even play the game. Flying planes around pointlessly for hours on end just wouldn't work anymore.

Also, keep in mind that fuel is probably seperate from repairs, which have always been a pit-stop requirement in most driving situations in GTA. I can imagine that the taxi missions could totally suck if you have to monitor your overall time, current fare time, damage recieved, wanted rating (although that shouldn't ever be an issue), and a new fuel system.

On the other hand, I don't like judging the specifics of a system that's so far from being released, so I really shouldn't comment on any of it. For all we know, the fuel system won't even make it to retail.

When you think about it, when were you ever in the same car for more than 10-15 minutes in any of the GTA's?

Gas will not be a big deal. At all.

The only way the fuel system would be even remotely worth it is if the amount of fuel in your tank was directly proportional to how big the explosion is when your subsequently flip and crash your car into a bus.

More like when you hydraulic over the police car infront of you, clip the street light, which sends you rolling over many pedestrians... Then a SWAT bus smashes into, to where you end up flipped over ready to explode... On a boat.

Thats more of the GTA style.

As long as the mechanics stay arcadey then its cool.

TBH I'm not actually that impressed by the screenshot though. I mean can you really go "OMG" over yet another pretty building? Nowadays graphics are so good that the only time they get an OMG is if a) they really suck or b) they have their own particular style (GW, Psychonauts etc). Yet another pretty pic of reality is boring.

What I would like to see is screenshots that demonstrate new features, innovative new ways to interact with the game etc. Thats what really gets my juices flowing...

speaking of which, if you don't know why sn atch is censored then you really don't visit enough porn. This is the internet, there should be a minimum level for you to view everyday before you can visit other sites. At least until you catch up with the rest of us anyway.

GTA is definitely my favorite console series ever, so this is great news. Hopefully, they will eventually come out with a PC port. By then I'm sure I'll be able to run it well.

In any case, this looks awesome, aside from the fuel. I liked the character building and customization in SA, but fuel would just be an annoyance since it would be different every time you get in a new vehicle and it doesn't let you really change the character in any way, other than taking his money.

    ...

We need GTA: Ariadne Arm. Play as a Skulk trying to make it to the top of the criminal underworld, killing any TSA popo that get in your way. It would come complete with a stat system that lends the game RPG elements and if you really work at it, might let you be come a Fade.

bleh... I'll be interested in GTA when they produce GTH (Grand Theft Horse: thievery in the wild west!) or GTSS (Grand Theft Spaceship).
I didn't really get into san andreas; the fact I couldn't understand half the hip-hop jargon or whatever annoyed me and I can't say I really cared much for any of the characters, not even the one I was playing :/

As for the screenie, what about it? I can't see anything even remotely interesting or worth scrutinizing in it.
What next? Taking screenies of a rubber duck lying on a bathroom floor causing mass awe? :/

meh.. i wouldnt want an mmo gta... a simple coop would give me a boat load of fun.. like if they made a game where 2 players could run around in the world at once.. and occasionally theres a mission where the two would have to work together or against each other... the problem with too many players would be too many **** tards screwing around and ruining the game for you....

Deadwood - the game. I would love to work for Al Swearingen. (sp?) Sadly, this screenshot tells us it isn't that.

    UPDATE

Following yesterday's swift 'no comment' response from Rockstar regarding the supposedly leaked next-gen GTA screenshot, the company has contacted us this morning to flatly deny the picture is of any GTA game currently in development.

While Rockstar has no idea where Jeux-France, the original source of the image, got the shot from, the company has gone on record to deny that the picture came from any of its internal development studios.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the experience. I liked GTA3. Gameplay was interesting, and watching the mission descriptions felt like watching a mob movie. Then GTA:VC came out, and while it included the one thing GTA3 lacked (a rock station), I couldn't really get into it. Tommy Vercetti **** me off and was not fun to play as. And the gameplay was GTA3 plus motorbikes. I got GTA:SA anyway, because it seemed cool, but as it turns out CJ also **** me off and the draw distance was so freaking horrible I couldn't even enjoy playing it. The highlight of the game, IMO, was the car customizations. But the rest of the game was basically forgettable.

So at this point I could really care less about the next GTA incarnate unless they have a silent character again.

Though I certainly can't imagine a way to change the character, your issues with the draw distance tell me you must've been playing on the....ahem....I'm trying not to use the word "inferior" here....limiting hardware of the PS2. The PC had seriously improved draw distance by default, and if you've got the hardware to support it, you can up that by 10x using a little mod. BTW I enjoyed the style of SA. A lot. And I cared about the characters.

But I guess that comes down to individual taste. You like RE 4 right? There's a difference more profound than any I've ever encountered right there. I abhor that game and wish it did not exist to suck away my $50 for crap.

I presume that means the fuel ideas are fake too?

Unless it's the devs attempts to do a bit of market research without having to do anything more than fake a screenie "Do you reckon they'd go for it? I dunno, lets send out some ideas and see wether the response is positive or negative".

That's what I'd do in their shoes. Cheap yet effective market research.

If you're talking about San An, you can increase draw distance of cars, too.
