I'm going to be upgrading my video card soon and I'm wondering which cards (if any) will be HDR capable. Lost coast will be released soon along with all the HDR goodies and I don't want to upgrade and be SOL.

    What card are you considering getting? Chances are, any remotely advanced card (9600/9800+) will support it.

    I'm looking at the 6600GT cause it's cheap and still good. Know of any official word on which cards are HDR capable? All that I've seen have said that HDR will be available if your card supports it...

    i believe that valve might of said something about only the latest cards supporting it, like the x800s and such.

    All DX9 cards support it, but only the relatively new ATI/Nvidia offerings will run it at decent speed.

    I'd reccommend you the ATI Radeon x800XL, it's much cheaper than the top end stuff but is still a very powerful card in its own right.

    $300 for a video card? I can't spend that kind of money I'm a broke college kid paying rent. I would be spending enough as it is on the 6600GT.

    Guess you'll be waiting a while then for HDR, son. A 6600GT is still a good choice for games in general, but it won't run HDR very well.
