A Story
You know a game's great when you can have fun LOSING . That's what happened to me earlier today in ns_nancy. I joined aliens, and our team had let the marines spread way too far and secure too many resource nodes. The result was that everywhere you looked there was a turret, and it was a real challenge for the aliens to do basically anything. We lost that round, but then later on bast.... hoooooooo boy.
The server had just reset, so there weren't that many people in it. I went through the random team door. As my bad luck would have it the other three players joined the marine team. Ok, says I, this just means I have a little extra work to do this round . I immediately went gorge, and rather than try to fortify the feedwater hive where I'd spawned, I trekked off towards the double resource node in atmospheric processing. After building one resource tower, I threw up some defenses near the small walkway that leads into the room, positioning them in a way so that they could also fire on the entrance I'd come through. Then I began to build the other tower, when all of a sudden a marine showed up. I always get scared when I have to fight a marine as a gorge, but luckily I'd built a defensive chamber in the room as well as some offensive ones. The off. chambers were out of range of the marines, but I was able to use spit and the defense tower to kill him after about 15 seconds of tense fighting. Then I finished building the second resource collector, and got some towers up near the last remaining entrance. At about this time some other people starting joining the server, so we had about 3 aliens v 5 marines.
I instructed one teammate to stay as a skulk and harass the marines, which he seemed more than happy to do. My other teammate and I set off to build the other two hives, building whatever resource collectors we could along the way. We worked excellently as a team, he'd save up the resources for a hive while I threw up defenses everywhere.
During this time period, the marines had apparently figured out that there was a double resource node claimed by the aliens, because they tried their HARDEST to get into that room. Well, I feel like I've gotten pretty good at strategically placing offensive chambers, and it payed off today. Marines fell to their gooey blobs of death quite fast, and my teammate who was a skulk chomped a few as well.
The marines became totally absorbed with getting that double node. So absorbed, in fact, that we were able to barricade every other entrance to the marine spawn area with defensive and offensive chambers. Soon, we had resource nodes all over the map, as well as all three hives.
The marines were dead within 10 minutes after that, as they found it a bit difficult to deal with 3 oni charging into their spawn area and wreaking havoc on their turrets. They'd spent ALL their time and resources during that game trying to take down that double node area; as a diversionary tactic it had worked brilliantly.
I feel like I'm finally starting to get the hang of playing as an alien, and it appears a lot of people on the servers are as well. Every time I play NS, it's better than the previous time. It consistently amazes me, much more than any other mod/game ever has.
NS now replaces my CS shortcut on my desktop . Hooray for this mod.

The CC was within just a few seconds of destruction when I heard the familiar tinkling of a grenade bounce past me, I had just enough time to turn and look at it before I died :/. Without wasting a second I started leaping towards their base as skulk, not even upgrading myself. I leapt across the base defenses, waited a second or two for my energy to max out and then xenocided, BOOM! No more CC.
Again I went fade, this time with adrenaline instead of celerity and again I blinked into their base before cloaking where there CC used to be. I waited for a marine to come chasing me but after a few seconds I realised 'no, I was lucky' noone saw me. I observed their base and noticed that their Turret Factory was close to me and no turrets could see me. I ran up and started laying in to it until I heard a marine phase in near me. I quickly stopped and cloaked. He knew someone was there as he heard the attacks and so came to investigate but as couldnt see me, I decided to have some fun.
I started chuckling, only when he was further away at first but it got more and more frequent until he and a few fellow marines started shooting everywhere (except at me ) trying to find me. Eventually the others gave up but he kept wandering trying to find me. I decided to end it and quickly rip him apart when he looked away. He must have died at least 3 or 4 times before Id got the TFac down. Then I noticed the ammo dispensor nearby. I couldnt resist, I cloaked next to it killing each and every marine that came for ammo, chuckling at them when they tried to find me.
It was absolutely hilarious, my mates were in stitches and my score rocketed up, meanwhile the other aliens were clearing out the last of the defense.
We won of course That was one of my favourite NS moments so far, in fact one of my fave gaming moments all together.
I like that
Nice job !!
