<div class="IPBDescription">Help for the slow?</div> First, the stats:
2.0 GHz
512 MB RAM
GeForce 2 MX400
cl_updaterate 50
cl_cmdrate 60
rate 25000
I get no loss or choke, but I'd like to optimize them for a smooth play as possible.
I get ~30 fps. Yes, the card is crap, but other people who have had this card say they've gotten much better. I'd be happy with 60, anything better than 30 please.
I don't use powerstrip or aTuner.
Thanks in advance.

For the framerate problem, check out the low poly packs in my sig. Just remember to back up all your original files first! It doesn't have to be a permenant switch, just temporary to see if it helps. If it does help and you'd don't mind the fewer polys, stick with it. If you don't like it, you can always switch back.
Keep in mind that as each new version of NS comes out, it's going to be tuned less and less to older hardware like yours. That means that older versions of NS are going to run faster than newer ones. On most people's system, the change isn't noticeable, but on vid cards like yours, you're going to feel the squeeze. The same goes for almost all software, really. If you were to format your box, then install Win98 with DirectX 7, you'd see a noticeable improvement from that, too.
Also, turn off dynamic lighting and high detail particle systems
And I'm not worried about the future as I'm getting a new comp soon, I'm just trying to get this one working nicely.
Thanks, I'll try the low-poly packs.
