This was posted back on June 2nd by BlackViper. Back then we were not sure if Nvidia was actually going to make the card, but it turns out that they did, and so I got some more information for those people who are interested.

According to Tom's Hardware, putting 2 of these babies in a SLI setup would be utter ownage. All of the awesomeness can be yours for the low, low price of $600!

Cheap cheap cheap!
Another über graficcard? Bah
I think its sad that NVidia and ATI are getting farther and farther away from a reasonable price for their high end cards.
I don't want a "budget" card, but paying $600 for a video card is just insane.
It will still be good
So far, I've owned 3 video cards:
radeon 7000
geforce 4
radeon 9600 xt
I've never had a problem not being able to play a game.
Most new games suck anymore.
i only paid $280 for my x800 pro and i'm loving it. $600 USD does seem a little crazy though. for that kind of cash you can buy decent everything else for the puter, assuming you don't need to replace your monitor
Funny thing is, if ATi ever gets around to releasing their next-gen card, its supposed to be better.... and Crossfire will probably beat this....
Things are becoming really powerful and really expensive, too bad they're becoming expensive, I want one. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Since when has NVidia and ATI leapfrogging each other been anything new?
Once ATI releases a card that blows this out of the water, NVidia will have one just on the horizon to blow it out of the water, and on and on and on...
I've stopped listening to all "oh just wait 6 months" arguments because once you wait the 6 months, someone is quick to tell you to wait 6 months again for even bigger reasons. (This is not just for GPU's, but also CPU's, mobo's, etc)
Beyond3d for example is WAY better and contain much more actual info and less fluff.

Exactly. Don't wait for new tech, just space your purchases out by a good three years and buy whatever is top of the line (or close to it) when whatever you have doesn't get the performance you want in the games you want to play. And, to be honest, you really don't need a top of the line card unless you're like me and insist on playing whatever is new and hip with FSAA and AF enabled. If all you play is Half-Life and MMOs, you shouldn't need a supercomputer.
as for an agp version...i doubt it. agp is a slower technology than pci-ex. plus you sure as hell cant run sli off of it.
my dream system would be
dual amd64bit chipset with 2 of these puppies, top end audigy, 2 gig of corsair ddr400 and a swish 10000 rpm. ARRRRRGH.
gotta go get a wipe. ive given the term "stickykeys" a whole new meaning.

On the more serious note, with two of those you can really play anything at smoothest....sweet.
I'm going to get the Geforce 6600GT though.
That and the blur in LCD screens does too.
Less expensive options for me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
yes, or so from what I've read it does, not sure if its just AFR or not though.
Yea, I think they do leave it up to the games.
I don't beleive crossfire does though <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

/me agrees.
It always happens and it always shall, sometimes one company comes out on top for a generation, but even if they do it is always with a very small margin.
But i prefer to go every 2 years, and get a high end mainstream card. I have trouble justifying $300+ on something which will only let me play games better. I mean, my graphics card is 2 years old in a month or so, and it was mainstream then, but can run HL² with mostly all high settings.
I could care less about framerate as long as it dosen't drop to nothing. I don't understand these people who are all happy about 200 fps, sure its alot, but wouldnt 60 fps, some AA and AF, and a $200 cheaper card be nice too?
