<div class="IPBDescription">Driver</div> I know I've been absent for quite a while, due to a horrible lack of internetness. I'll be getting it back this week though.

In any case, in about two hours, I recently produced this little beauty of a trance song that I simply named "Driver." No, it's not done, obviously. I've already made some changes from the version, including the addition of snare rushes, etc. Mostly channel mixing tweaks so far, but I'm sure I'll make some additional changes soon enough.

Here's the beta: <a href='http://ecstasisband.com/NEX-Driver.mp3' target='_blank'>http://ecstasisband.com/NEX-Driver.mp3</a>

A little bit of constructive criticism is always welcome, but please, if you hate trance, don't bother. I'm not interested. It's a simple song I cooked up in two hours (or less). I'm not that concerned about getting rave reviews. Although, the song is quite good, I will admit.

Trance is one of my favorite genres. It's normally a good beat to exercise to, or to dance to in a dark club with strobe lights goin.

5:50 was a bit longish I feel, and I frequently found myself waiting for either the tempo to change or the song to end. It was darn good though for homemade - I think you have Fangs beat FTW!. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Reminds me of a few tracks from the Timesplitters series.

    Very nice.

I thought it was a little short, actually. I've listened to (and made) many a trance song that are into the ten minute range. And, seriously bro, trance artists pretty much never, ever actually change tempo. It throws off the ecstasy user's rhythm machine too much <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->.

How do you go about making these awesome trance songs? I assume you have some expensive equipment/hardware?

Very nice track, thats some quality work for sure.
-Had a great beat, simple, easy to follow, but not too prevalent
-Had great depth, 3 or 4 sounds and rythms at once
-Had a good setup of the simpler sections (middle and end)
    -The song made sense
-Great use of the echo with the piano, it gives it a lonely quality

One thing I think it could use:
    Dynamics.

Try making everything a little quieter when there are fewer 'instruments' playing. Then before some transitions, either slowly become lowder or softer. Maybe employ some kind of echo dynamics, normal loudness, then much quieter. There were a couple places with little changing that could be much more directional with a little more dynamic contrast.

The way it stands, it would make excellent background music for almost anything you want, just I would find it a little slow at times because the rythms and melodies really didn't have much direction. Other times is was very good.
