Controling Ns Server From A Seperate Application

Basicly what im trying to do is to run a seperate application to the server.
what this application will do is control the server and perform tasks such as:
<ul><li>Lock/unlock the server</li><li>Change the password</li><li>Start a new map</li></ul>
as well as monitoring whats going on in the server
such as
<ul><li>What people are in it</li><li>what maps playing</li></ul>
it is preferable to be able to do this using a language in the .net framework (vb/c#/vc++) since that's mainly what i know.
so, question of the thread, is this possible. If so does anyone know of any resources on this topic?
i relise this isn't exactly a scripting question but unfortunately there isn't a 3rd party applications board <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> so here will have to do.

so far i can get it to start up the server and monitor everything that appears on the console, i just need to get it to pass commands to the console as well.
