    No Ranking system. Sorry. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Stats lie.

You can be one of the best NS players, yet only be in the middle of the ranking. A good player doesn't just rack up kills, he also builds, ninja pg's into the hive, destroys AA and then dies...

Wow a ranking system would be so amazingly retarded I cant even imagine...
  • LigerXT5LigerXT5 Join Date: 2005-01-09 Member: 34114Members
so, the only ranking systems are the websites that have the server you go to, like armslab website right?

NS eltitists flame individual rankings, but praise competitive play.

These same people use the results of their competitive play to rate themselves and their buddies.

So what we have here are the elitists using their comp results as the only legitimate ranking system. The weaker clan members also like clan rank only because the strong members overshadow their weaknesses.

I'd like to see rankings for individuals, that weigh building-time, commanding wins/losses, structures built, and the traditional killing stats that create the overall rank.

Where's the stat that shows the player that detected the other teams strategy? Where's the stat that shows the player relays intel in a timely manner? Where's the stat that shows the player isn't just another retarded deathmather with a higher thatn average kill:death ratio?

Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. Ring a bell?

The whole point of rankings is to determine the probability of a win or loss of a battle before the actual battle takes place, based on previously-gathered statistics. Statistics aren't 100% accurate, because people aren't 100% reliable, but they are still good for preventing "skill-stacking" on public servers, or for gambling on a competitive match.

    Read it. It's understandable.

My point is that this community isn't going to embrace individual stats any time soon.

    My point was:

All-rounded people (people that kill some aliens, also build) are usually more useful than retards with a good aim.

    To the original post:

No, the only ranking system you'll see is stuff like PsychoStatts, which is server-based.

That steam ID box is for consties/vets/PTs/devs, who have those cool icons on the scoreboard in game. The icon goes to whatever steam ID you put in there.

Adding stats would make many of people's actions based on the hope to improve, or not lose rank...
...things get kind of boring when people are afraid to do anything...

ok that brings up another question, where can i get this phycostat thing for my soon-to-be server? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

in addition to what was said earlier *wheres the ranking for the other stuff, like building, ninja PGing, communicating good info, comming, ect*, theres another factor of equal concern that a stat system brings up, if allowed to become to much a staple:

servers that require a ranking of a certain level to play on them

if that became a regular thing, many people, including newbies, would more or less have nowhere to play. theyd be kicked the minute their k/d ratio was low, and ive seen some servers in CS ban for that, let alone just kick.

players that play for fun and ignore their stats would more than likely no longer be able to play for that reason entirely anymore, and thats a bad thing *primarily since thats all i play for, anyway, and no, i dont count 'winning' as fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> *
