About That 1.04 Res System...

(I'm a newb ^^ btw)
On a few servers seems to be some kinda different res system, where running around as skulk (with one hive) allows you a max. of 30res. Due to this, gorges and other players would immediately get more over the time (because you are "full")
I find this system kinda cool, some what logical since Gorge do require res more likely then a Skulk (you can raise the limit by planting new hives).
Is this system made up or did it used to exist during, um, ns version 1.04?

Comments
Was just curious, because it did allow a bit of better teamplay like perma gorge.
My team has be Shotgunrushed a few times on normal servers (without that 1.04 system res thing)... within the first moments of the map.

Also, something you probably DIDN'T notice is that the gorge is also given res FASTER than others, he/she gains precedence. This made the gorge VALUABLE and a prime target for marines to hunt. Killing the alien gorge in 1.04 could severely damage any chance of victory.
its the 1.4 res system. And it also allows you to set up 2 hives at the same time.
While this res system is a lot of fun for aliens and needs much more teamwork (since you cant fade without 2 hives or onos without 3) it becomes quite boring very soon for marines since the gorge is able to spam huge amounts of Chambers all across the map.
We had a decent marine team on that server but still there was nearly no chance for us... If we killed one Rt they set up 2 in the same time with some OCs around it.
But the res system itself is kind of nice...just needs balancing i think
JP/Shotties by what...4, 5 minutes?
Yes I liked the res system...but some of the ther stuff HAD to go.
If you are losing as marines in 1.04 setting, you are doing something WRONG.
if you had a gorge who did his job, and skulks who did theres, backed up with a few lerks.. it was hard. Remember, skulking and lerking was TOTALLY different then it was now.. a complete different strategy.. but it worked fine.
1.04 res system is better always
As a community we're helping Ebag out by occasionally testing the plugin on our server, and if people like it we may have our play sessions on a more permanent basis, perhaps a weekly or bi-weekly basis. You can check out our forums in my sig for more info.
Hope that helps.

But yeah, I miss the permagorge.
I much prefer the new method.
there must be a limit on what ppl can get on res. (33, 50) but the gorge gains res on normal speed

Gorges get twice the amount of res that other aliens do. Example: 7 RT's, 5 skulks, 1 gorge. The gorge will get 2 res per tick (every 4 seconds) while all other aliens get 1 res every tick. Caps set at 30/60/90 for 1/2/3 hives. Gorges and gestating are capped at 90 (to prevent res getting lost if a gorge gets an upgrade). You recieve no res while dead. Res bank has been coded in. Res bank will be used if a player suddenly loses res (IE: was gorge and died or went back to skulk) or if all aliens are overflowing (or dead, or only alive aliens are capped, etc). I've included in Cheesy's showres plugin, so that you can see the res bank (if there's res in the bank) via +showres or /res. (Removed due to crashing on some servers. Res bank still works, you just can't view it.)
104balance.sma - Multihive
Allows for building two hives at once. Second hive is same cost as first (40 res), this can be adjusted. Slightly modified to make more compatible with other plugins.
REMOVED DUE TO CRASHING ON MANY SERVERS.
104balance.sma - Fade/Onos limiter
Fades are limited to 2 hives or more. Onos to 3 hives or more.
104balance.sma - Marine upgrades blocked
Marine upgrades are blocked, including electrify, dropping cat packs (you can still research them at the moment), and hand grenades. Cat packs and hand nades don't seem to make much of a difference, but with electrify marines can lock down 2 hives way too quickly. You can block cat packs and hand grenades by uncommenting the appropriate lines in the 104balance.sma.
20lerkspike.sma - Lerk Spike/Bite
As the classic lerk from 1.04 (bite/spike/gas/umbra) was not possible (since lerk would get all 4 weapons at hive 2), I've set up the plugin to allow the user to choose if they want standard 3.0 lerk (bite/gas/umbra/scream) or 2.0 lerk (spike/gas/umbra/scream). Players can use setinfo spike <0/1>, which 0 means bite (or 3.0 lerk) and 1 means spike (or 2.0 lerk). In order for the change to take effect, players must reconnect (to prevent them from scripting a toggle to do both and have 5 weapons) if they've already gone lerk. They can use the setinfo before going lerk that game to specify without reconnecting. Plugin currently defaults to 3.0 lerk. I renamed the file to prevent confusion, but about 90% of the work is SandStorm's.

since when in 1.0 did you have a res cap of 30? oh and I was pretty sure res doesnt overflow anymore either ;s
I'm not sure about overflowing in 3.0F (I think overflowing does occur, but only when an alien is at 100 res - not when they're dead), but overflowing does work like 1.04 in the plugin.

Res still overflows
