<div class="IPBDescription">another concept Im working on</div> Im not shure if this one will anybodies favourite. but its not a bad start for 3 hours work. its sad that this screenshot comes out this bad but after messing around with max about 10 minutes to get it placed this had been the bestresult I could get.
its a handgun mostly inspired by the vp70 but you also can make out some p90 influence.
im not shure about the mag yet but maybe the mag can be removed by pulling out the end of the buttstock. that could look cool. what you can see behind the slide is actually a shooter safety. so you dont have to worry about getting the fast moving piece of metal in your face <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I attached a grip to the frontrail just because Im not done with any aimpoints or flashlights yet.
<img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/bilder/P480_1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I might change it so it looks more scifi, at its pretty "common" looking.

Check your pms <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I think loading from the top of the stock is a good idea,make it stick style,so there's no unloading.Caseless mofo!Do you use it?!
@ TommyVercetti: since I have decided to create a pistol model from this, it does make sense. you buy your gun maybe you want a fullauto version so you just have to replace the standart frame with a fullauto one. the size of these weapons is similar to the size of a p90 which is very handy in my eyes. and it would be cheap <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
@ Chubi Chan: allready thought about the caseless style this also would fit to the idea of having a mag in the stock.
should look better now.
I decided to use the "caseless ammo construction" and put the mag into the stock, more precicely, the shoulderpad IS the mag. you just snap it in, voila. to fit te mag I had to make some changes on the body of the weapon. the grip became part of the body, connected with some nice, sexy curves.
I changed the front handguard, removed the short piece of barrel (the muzzleflash exits trough the 4 holes in the front part), the "slide" became the actual body for the mechanics. the new slide is just behind the old one. and last but not least a very simple aimpoint has been added. but the conversion process killed the details on the rail.
polcount: 4336 (not optimized)
are you gonna optimize it and find a skinner/skin it/animator/animate it?
thatd be sweet...

I wanna mesh/skin and try to make my slave, baash animate it for css. Someone would have to animate it for ns though, cause there arnt any animations that would work for this atm.
you see: Im pretty busy <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I dont know why people WANT to bother with poly optimizing because this can be done by me in a very simple way, its just that I couldnt check the polycount while modelling and didnt spend much time to think about how to avoid "broken up surfaces".
should look better now.

I like this a lot more than what you started with. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Nice work.
the stock is pretty short, overall length and proportions (+grip positions) are similar to the p90, which is little bit umcomfortable to shoot because of its short stock (at least for me).
but thats not really a problem. I will change the height value of the stock so it looks "right" then. what Im not satisfied with atm is the front part of the weapon, where the handguard is mounted. I will change it to a more "covering" look. it also will surround the trigger in its front area later on and reach up to the to the "barrel".
another point to fix is the aimpoint. like you can see I dont spend much time on it.
additional equipment (you remove the handguard and then attach your part to the rail) could be:
- flashlight
- LAM
- vertical grip
- some kind of close combat, secondary weapon
- can opener
please choose your option NOW! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

ftw
<img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/bilder/53k.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
you are asking for the polycount? its 53.000!!! thats where "round" is round!
here you see the vertical grip I also used in the 1st screenshot in the thread.
anyway,if you can cut some corners,and optimize and prioritize,we can give this thing some animations and get this in game <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->

read the thread carefully and you will find the polycount for the "gamecompatible" version (about 4000). then you will notice this:
"just played around with the export settings. I kinda overdid it. but it was a funny test. format conversion took about 1 minute, rendering took about 5 minutes."
er...i second that, send me a finished model <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
first of all I havent worked on it much because I couldnt get this LAM look right.
furthermore my pc got hit pretty hard by some kind of superagressive virus, that spread within my network in no time. so windows finally died for me.
thats why Im using linux atm so I can get online and write some mails at least.
I dont have to tell you that the change from windows to linux may take some time.
but Im afraid I will have to install windows on one machine to keep my 3D system, my valve hammer editor and my steam running.
but no matter how this mess will turn out, the model WONT get dropped!
anyway,if you reinstall windows,I suggest you get a half-way decent virus program after wards.I have a custom one on mine,and I've never gotten one since...and even better,it's imprinted as part of the windows/linux OS so it's REALLY hard for a virus to affect both a windows file,and a linux file <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But that's only because it looks like a PDW rather than a pistol now. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Im not quite shure how my 3D system will be supported by linux. but Iwill have to make some minor changes on the model anyway (polycount). there will be a way. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
grizzly seems to want this model really bad <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
