I just want to introduce myself to every one here.

I used to play 2.0 of NS but I moved to Nebraska due to my mom couldn't support me ( sadly she died last mothers day :'( <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
And then We all had just 56k dial up ( even thogh my 56k dial up in Oklahoma Was dang 10x's better than what I had up here. Litteral! down there i had a stable connection and my pping stay between 100 to 290. up here i got like 500-999! So now i Have a dsl connection of 256k on a network of 15 and only 6 get on the net only 4 of those rarely do get on. Sadly it loses conection every so often. My provider is GTMC in south NE.
Let me know if any of you know how ya feel obout them if you live around here. ( No there is no way we can get another web provider becouse where i live there is only one and thats them. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

Now I'm able to play. But im now trying to get used to steam and how to add plugins for NS 4.0.4 ( took me 2 ******* weeks just to add RCBOT with metamod for lan (singleplayer <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) and i'm still trying to calm down from it! lol

I still have my old website up wich still sucks but anyone wants to look at go ahead.
( It's hosted on my dads website provider, he sells fence chargers. If you don't know what they are heres a question/joke: When your driving down a crountry road, and you see a fence wire, not barbed, and you see cows, don't you ever wounder why the cows don't just run through the wire and get hit by cars, trucks, SIMIES!, I've seen a cow get hit by one becouse of a fence charger made by wizard failed again! )

im thinking of hosting a 1 day a week or month.
I need to know what setting would be perfect for it for what i have to use:

DSL 256k or a network that shares to 4 other pc, counting me.
I have a windows XP servise pack 2
Intel®
Celeron® CPU 2.00GHz
1.99 GHz, 248 MB or RAM

Its pretty clean of viruses becouse i use AVG antivirus and Ad-Aware or ad and **** like that <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Don't host a server that would be a laggy game even for 4 players...

I live in lincoln, NE... got a nice cable connection here and usually keep pings around 40-50ish

I just hosted a server for 6 ppl max, with no bots of corse, and every one including me had a very low ping, lower than 80

at the time, i even made sure no other pc in on the network was on just incase some one tried to hack the network.

besides i know ppl that has cable internet and they say its messy connection

WElcome to the forums! I have cable internet and although i don't host anything, it works absolutely wonderful for everything else, pings of steady 50's, d/l rates of ~350 KB/s MINIMUM unless the download rate is capped on the server <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. And i f i get lucky, multiple MB/s, the best ever was like 5MB/s. It didn't last long, but was still nice. But, of course download speed is completely unrelated to upload. I'm not sure what my upload speed is as i rarely use it for more than pictures. So, I have no idea what an average sized server would be like. I ran a 6 person listen server for sven coop and noone complained much about lag. Meh, whatever.
