Ns Source Features

I was thinking about some additions that I think NS Source should include. With the physics engine that Valve has offered us I really think the NS team should do some experimentation with zero gravity. The use of zero gravity in NS maps would not only be fun but could help mappers come up with more creative ways to make NS maps. Also I'd like to see the adaptation of the Onos's strength. I think it would be cool if marines could weld any door close. The only way for the aliens to break through would be to use an Onos and ram the door. Imagine being a marine and hearing a loud banging on the other side of a door. Then all of a sudden the door bulges outward and collapses. Then you have an Onos staring you in the face. I also think the heavy marine should no longer be able to be eaten by the onos. The heavy marine is too slow to avoid and too large to make any sense how it could be eaten in the first place. Also I'd like to see water reflections added in the game. I'm not talking about being able to see the players reflection but rather water relfecting off the walls. Just like if you were to put a bright light at the bottom of a pool and then have the pool in a room with walls on all four sides.

Well its nice to see someone thinking outside the box, zero gravity would be interesting to say the least and would definetly provide some memorable moments in videogaming.

There are some maps that emulate what it might be like to play in a zero grav enviorment on the current HL engine, like freefall and some others I'm sure someone else will name because I can't recall their names at the time.

You seem to have some good ideas as far as the onos/dewelding (i just invented a word!).

There is actually a thread just for this in the constelation forum and it would be great to have you in the discussions there

Believe me, I already think that the devs have some awesome ideas.
Just look what they did with a raggity 7 year old engine. Think what they can do with a more powerful one and more powerful tools.

I like the lighting idea, because with Source, you can do some hot dynamic lighting.
I just like the idea of hive infestations knocking out power to a certain grid on the map and it getting foggy because theres a ventilation malfunction because of the hive.

Eh?

The not eating heavies thing, eh, I dont think thats a real good idea.
Maybe just making it harder for an Onos to stomp and run?

But theres a whole new world of possibilities with the new Source engine.

That door welding idea sounds good. Maybe not EVERY door (that could become a little weird... plus, marines could control the map early on with ease).

It's a shame the port is so far off..

Ooh ooh! Make it so that when an Onos uses Devour on someone they have to actually sit there and swallow them. The animation would be the Onos grabbing the Marine at his torso, rearing its head back, and letting the Marine slide down. Of course they could cancel at anytime by switching weapons. And to make things even more interesting, make it so that Stomp takes just barely longer to wear off than the Devour animation takes to complete. No more lame Onos running into a big Marine group, Devouring, and then Charging off. They now have to be either very skilled, use teamwork, or catch the marines alone.
