3.0.5 Hitreg Movie

<div class="IPBDescription">HELP ME! I CAN'T DECIDE!</div> Okay, can you take a look at this movie below, please (69s/19Mb movie, requires <a href='http://download.divxmovies.com/XviD-1.0.3-20122004.exe' target='_blank'>XViD</a> codec (0.5Mb)).
I'm not really sure whether this is 3.0.5 hitbox related.
On the 1st clip, I shoot behind the skulk with a level 2 shotgun at close range. It shouldn't have hit at all (but I'm fairly certain that this is due to HL netcode, and is not NS-related). Nevertheless you see green blood- but the damn thing lives.
On the 2nd clip, I think this could possibly show the spark bug. During the slow-motion replay, you see that I fire my lvl3 SG right into the fades torso. All I see is a spark; <b>but</b> I see a bullet decal in the wall behind it. (I didn't really play enough of the last CM-only release, so I'm not sure as to whether this is considered the "spark bug".) It <b>could</b> just be lagging hitboxes (a server performance issue?), but I thought it best to ask for help from you guys, before 3.0.5 goes live.

(Incidentally, the server isn't running any whacky combat plug-ins; so that skulk didn't have huge amounts of health, armour or regen.)

They do kinda not work right, it looked like u had plenty of hits on that skulk to kill it, and yea, it went thru the fade.
I don't know if its any worse than some of the current problems though....
Skulk jumps it will sometimes become completely hitboxless.
On the flip side, any skulk with its feet on the ground/wall/ceiling, dies in ~ 20 bullets, thats a good 15 less than I used to have to fire on those servers. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I wasn't aware the fade hitbox was *changed* in 3.0.5. It was probably just lag that caused that hitbox to vanish, bry's seems to have been getting a hell of alot of lag recently.
The first looked very fishy at first, but viewing it frame by frame revealed that the skulk was hit with at least 2 SG pellets: You can see the alien blood sprites where the server registered the hits. The fade behind got the rest of the hits. The slight delay to the actuall registration of bullets may be due to several rate and prediction factors. But when the bullets fired, they hit, even if they were delayed.
The second one looked more like a miss at first, but after some frame-by-frame inspections, I believe that one might be a case of the bug. I can't say for sure, though.
Anyway, thanks for the video. We have it confirmed now that we actually still have the bug, and we would love it if you guys around the globe could help us find out under what conditions the bug reproduces.
Heh, apologies for that- it probably doubled the file-size; but I plan on doing a proper movie soon, and that was both my first ever movie, and the first time I've spent longer than 5mins on Vegas.
As for the video above, I forgot to point out that the server was suffering with lag, and thinking about it, you could put both clips down to this.
This is the most obvious 'miss hit reg' I've been getting with the new 3.0.5 patch
I've had lots of miss reg I have 'felt' when shooting, but none as blantent as this.
I pump 21 point blank lvl 3 lmg bullets into the afk skulk (todd) and I count 6-7 that reg.

oh yeah that skulk kill just looks like lag honestly, hitbox's get moved behind models as lag increases
You simply cannot depend on seeing blood sprites when playing over the Internet. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't. I have also seen Half-Life drop unreliable messages on Listen servers.

Yeah their staionary because it's easier to see the lack of hitboxes, i've got a few when the skulk is a running and shots I know should of hit, don't.
