Tft Screen Low-res

I recently bought a Hyundai L90D+ LCD montior and its wonderful, atleast when im not playing games, its native resolution is 1280 * 1024, however this is the only 5:4 resolution it supports. All the others get stretched to the full size of the screen, I would like a way to disable the vertical auto-size on the monitor so I get a black bar at the top and bottom, like widescreen. I cant find anything todo this in the OSD and it only allows you to adjust the width of the image, not the height. Is there a way todo this on the screen or with a 3rd party program?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Check your OSD controls again. I personally can't believe that there is a width adjustment, but no height one. They're normally on the same page.

    If there really isn't a height adjustment, then you might be **** out m'laddio, as it is the monitor that is auto-resizing the image to fit the panel.

    Another idea, check to see if there is a disablable Auto Resize control (All good TFTs have them), that might be the ticket to glory...

    The location on the menu where I can set the width is "Clock Phase -> Clock". The clock setting changes the width while keeping the left of the screen in the same position (moving the right backa and forth appropriately). Double checked, and looked in the manual, there seems to be no way to set the width. I can change the height of the screen in the ATI drivers (though an easier way would be nice), however the autoreze auto corrects this and I can not find a way to disable this either.

    Thanks a lot for your help so far guys.

    320 quid for this and its already anoyoying me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I would say you're pretty much stuck with 4:3 imagery then.

    Remember, widescreen modes normally fill the remainder of the 4:3 ratio with black space, something widescreen TFT's are capable of ignoring.

    All TFT's should be ran at their native resolution, just of aesthetics reasons alone. Run the monitor at 1280x1024, turn down graphics options in-game, and start saving for a major graphics upgrade, and curse the day you ever bought a TFT...

    when I switched from my crt to my 1280x1024 LCD screen I noticed no difference in streaching, it ends up being like a 5% streach in each direction, so its hard to notice. And yes, it runs in other resolutions, but theres no point in doing that.
