<div class="IPBDescription">Stumped with something</div> I was extremely surprised when I found that the linux version of Enemy Territory runs better then the windows client.

I only have one issue though, the game is DARK. I'm not talking "I can sorta see it" dark, but DOOM3 dark. Are there any programs or settings I can use to brighten things up a bit?

Depending on your video card and windowing manager, there are many gamma options available. I'd start with finding some documentation on XFree86/xorg.conf for your specific brand and go from there.
Likewise, if you're running KDE, there are some gamma adjusting options in the control panel.
