    Well.....

Im probably gonna by one of these for my next compy upgrade:
    <a href='http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106984' target='_blank'>DVD RW</a>

For more general rules, Plextor, Sony, and Pioneer have some really excellent drives.

Lite On, MSI, NEC, Samgsung, A Open, and Ben Q have some quite nice drives, just at lower prices.

I wouldn't go with generic drives very often, maybe pick out one you want and look up reviews. Also, it varys alot drive-to-drive, so if you get 10 from one manufacturer, 1 may be bad, but if you get one, theres always a chance that you will get that one. Buy from a decent retailer and whether the drive is great or not, you always have a replacement possibility.

NEC 3250-A. One of the best drives that I've installed in a PC, can't remember if it does DVD+R9, but it'll do everything else, but DVD-RAM, which no-one uses...
