Wood Texture

<div class="IPBDescription">Does it look like one?</div> Before we start, I do suffer from colourblindness, so any odd colour schemes you see from me are cause I can't tell what I'm doing.

Basically, does this texture look anything like wood? I'm looking to create a scene at some point and I'm currently learning to texture stuff.

EDITO- P.S i do realise my grains don't all follow the same line, especially on the ends.

That image is awfully dark... I would increase the amount of granyness... The texture looks somewhat skewed, but if you're just going for the texture, it's alright. (add more grains and differences). I would make the edges of the model rough if you can.

wood isnt made out of grains... it loosk too smooth, woodish, but not wood.. wood has broken cracks through it and a rough edge, even finely sanded wood still has a bit of texture to it.

Looks good to me, just contrast and brighten it and you have a winner.

Also, bear in mind that on the ends you should be able to see the rings of the wood in it, and the grain should also corespond to those rings.
