<div class="IPBDescription">The Ultimate NS Story thread.</div> I have been playing NS for some time now and i must say i still find my self scared as <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' />? once in a while.

Just this morning i woke up for the fresh smell of oozing monster brains at the tip of my shotty.

First thing i do is join the marines and the COMM placed me in squad 5. <span style='color:yellow'>(this is at a lan)</span>
At this time we trun off the over head light's so the room is dark and i choose to be Squad leader. Of course every one was cool untill i lead them into a trap.<span style='color:yellow'>(will get to this part later)</span> So any way we are at Ns_Nacy and i take my team down some dark,wet corridor with steam jet's.Me and my team hear the backround ambiance noise/music start to play. 10 sec's after that i turn around and my team just disapeared <span style='color:yellow'>(oops my fault? or did thay split up some how? we may never know)</span>Later on i hear these little clinking sound knowing that could be only one thing. about 5 skulk where stalking me. they where an the ceiling,the walls etc etc and so at the same time thay all lunged at meand i spun around and only got 5 shot's off as my screen went pitch black and i died. <span style='color:yellow'>(craping my pant's)</span>

Natural selection could be the next alien movie. (IMHO)

My scariest was when i was pretty new to the game, i went out solo, in a CO map, and i was walking down a dark hallway and a fade came walking.....not running, or blinking.....but walking, around the corner, then blink to me and killed me.....when he walked around the corner, i literally stopped and stared at him for the second or 2 that it took for him to get to and kill me

Well, it was on an NS map, I forgot which one, and I walked down a dark hallway... when suddenly... THE NEAREST GAS PIPE RELEASES STEAM! I spun around.. nothing was there... Whew that was close. I turn back around and an onos uncloaks approximately 6 feet away. And it devoured me.

B5, lerking down a hallway. I see a phasegate, and yell for backup. I go in for a closer look and 5 marines with shotguns come through at once. Trying to fly away while screaming over the mic is very difficult.

Around 1.00 or so.
Was under attack by, 2 or 3 skulks. Managed to kill them, I think it was 2.
So now, I'm wounded, and adrenaline is pumping. After I focus to where I am after I killed the two skulks.. theres an Onos waiting, guarding this door, and its still dark, so it was probably the scarriest thing I've ever seen.. he comes running towards me, Oof!

When my comm asked me to ninja a Have to set up a Phase Gate. Alone. Without a Jetpack. With a lmg. Fortunately, we had motion hacking, so I was able to avoid fades and such. The scariest part was when I was building the PG. Every second I expected a Fade to Blink in and kill me. When the Phase Gate Finally went up, a couple of shotty marines phased through. Then a focus gore Onos came in and killed everybody.

Old 1.04 ns eclipse.

No comm chair, no ips, only an armory, and 4 laser mines covering us.

Me and 3 men are camping base, untill the aliens overun us. Its about 1 minute in. I say to myself " Thank god, no fades for like 5-6 minutes". Skulks come, we defend with our guns, and the mines.

1 Fade comes. We are scared to ****. He comes forward, aproaches, swipe swipe, low hp. Just reloaded my clip. Fire.....

My scary moment was like that one. It was on quite an early version when i was MAJOR noob. I was on ns_nothing (i think) and i was asked to go with one person to build a phase gate on top of this one hive room on this thing (viaduct hive). We had jetpacks and by that time there was plenty of oni and fades to kill us but luckily we got there after a few close shaves but no deaths on either side yet. It was deadly quiet until we flew up towards it. I was building and my teammate (bad player <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' />) was guarding. It took ages. Then I realized. A skulk rush had JUST failed right when we got up. IT was then that the skulks started pouring up towards us. Then a lerk came round the corner with that gobbly lerky noise and pwned us. Then we respawned and an onos came round the corner, gored us and broke the base. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' />

1.0, The first time spotting an onos. Entire team is RUNNING in fear from this behomoth and complete pandimonium reigned. "THERE'S THIS RHINO THING" "RUUUNNNN" "OMG!"

Being the last person alive with a lmg in a multi entrance vent (the one next to the marine spawn elevator on 1 of the old basts) knowing that aliens had cloaking and that there was an onos outside. Then hearing some skulk footsteps stop nearby and a chuckle from either direction. Then I heard a footstep and turned around just in time for a skulk in the face.

First time playing ns in 1.0x on ns_nancy. I didn't even know what a skulk was, in fact, back then I thought it was skul because thats what it said on the TAB list. Walked up a ladder somewhere and at the top a skulk immiedietly bit my head off. I nearly **** myself.

When i first started playing i didn't know about leap for the longest time lol. One time i was walking down a hallway with my friend and a cloaked skulk leaped at us from a dark corner, it seemed so fast and sudden i jumped outa my seat it was like the movies.

Well, you may not find that scary, but back in the days of 2.0, when I started playing, there was always this howl (\Steam\SteamApps\email\half-life\ns\sound\ambience\howl1.mp3 ) when you entered Access Corridor 1A.
The first time I heard that... oh god, this scared me almost to death.
End every time, when I play ns_eclipse, this howl comes after some time and I always remember that moment. It scares me even today, a little.

Yeah, and the steambrust on ns_bast. One time, it really scared me to death. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' />

Best moment was probably fighting of a neverending skulkrush in one of the earlier versions of Hera (there used to be a vent leading into the Marine spawn, and the room was much smaller back then).

Scariest moment was probably the first time I saw an Onos, too. I think I was humping the armoury on Nacny like the nub I was, making sure I had absolutely full ammo (I wasn't taking any chances). I'd just seen a group of men file off down the ramp and decided to follow them.

I'd just got to the bottom when they all came running back on both sides and then this big COW WITH FANGS came galloping round the corner. I stood still unable to move, just mesmerised by how much **** we were in and then it came up and just looked at me. When I tried to move I realised that it hadn't just been looking at me, but had paralysed me and I was helpless while he gored me to death.

Perhaps scarier still was when I respawned, went to the armoury and could still see his head peeking round the corner at the bottom of the ramp!

My scariest moment was on a combat game, can't remember which. I was walking along, and suddenly heard loads of skulks moving (you know that sound). I kept turning round, but there was never anything there. I was getting really tense. I walked towards a corner, looked behind me as I turned it, and was suddenly in an onos' stomach. It scared the **** out of me. When I went into free look after the game finished (in the waiting room I went to observe), I found the corridor I was walking along, and guess what I discovered - there was a vent just above it. All those skulks were just walking through this vent, and I wasn't parasited or anything. A pure coincidence scared me horribly.
