Airconditioner Question

<div class="IPBDescription">nub needs help here</div> So I have a realy old airconditioner in my room and my mum and I are looking to replace it with something newer, better, and more efficent.

The spec of the current AC is 22"*13" 7860BTU, and 8.5 efficency ration.
<a href='http://images2.imagehigh.com/imagehigh/31052005211725_aircon.jpg' target='_blank'>The Old AC</a>

One unit we were looking at (before realising that it was a window unit, and we can't install one of em) was 5200 BTU (designed for 160 sq ft).

Are these the right specs? (the room size is about right).
Can I get one like tat that would fit in the hole I have in my room atm?
Would installing it my self be stupid?
How much can I expect to pay for this unit? For instillation?
Where should I go?
Does the efficiency rating actually MEAN anything?

Help Me!

(depot you around?)

Thanks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That is one tiny air conditioner - I doubt they make them that small (dimension-wise) anymore. What we need to know is the square footage of the room/area you wish to cool, and we'll go from there.

The interior wall looks to be wallboard, and the hole could easily be enlarged. But, what is the exterior wall made of? Do you have a Home Depot nearby?

Exterior wall is (atleast covered with) Brick.
SQ Ft of room = 160 sq ft (I got my facts wrong the first time)

I don't know what the deal with the molding is.

I have a HomeDepot near by.

Thank you for putting up with some one who know squat about this stuff <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I meant cubic feet man, sorry. If it's a 12' by 13' room with an 8' ceiling that equates to 1248 cubic feet. Take that figure and the dimensions of the wall hole to your Home Depot, and look up a qualified associate in that department.

Let me know what they say.

That is 1/2 the point of this.

My old AC is not very efficent.

And a Fan tends to just not cut it where I live.

*obviously doesn't live in the deep south*

I thought al new air conditioners use a different refrigerant that is ozone friendly?
