<div class="IPBDescription">ET meets Quake meets Battlefield?!</div> Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Announced
id Software and Activision today announced Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, a new strategic shooter by Splash Damage (Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory). The game pits humans vs invading Strogg forces, as they battle for control of Earth. Quake Wars promises strategic gameplay, persistent character promotions, day and night-time battles, and vehicle support. It's also mentioned that Quake Wars is powered by id Software's new MegaTexture rendering technology.
As the invasion begins, players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force -- humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies, each augmented with specialist weapons and combat hardware. Troops utilize over 40 conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.
I'm not really that excited for Quake 4 (sorry KFS <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) But this is my kind of thing.
Looks great!

Wolf: ET was free and RTCWish, Maybey this will be free and Q4ish, but then probly not...
The <a href='http://www.splashdamage.com/' target='_blank'>Splash damage</a> website mentions this is a full game
*pees self*
but a badass like that only comes once in a thousand years <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Any release date, yet? SO that i know when to update my computer ^^
Aduhgahpuh.
Gumphruhp. Pluh.
I'm sorry, i've temporarily forgotten how to speak.
*asplodes with delight*
Me neither, shame it's almost 3x over the limit.
I've probably misunderstood that bit havent I?
Bugger.
Am I the only one who thinks the terrain looks kinda crappy though? Probably just this one shot.
Still, this looks awesome. And there's still a chance it'll be free. Splash Damage's site says "a full game", not a full retail game. My money is on either in-the-box w/ Quake 4, or bundled with a patch for Quake 4.
Go id! Go that other studio that's making the game! Go Capcom!
I wonder if a game made by id and Capcom together would rock twice as hard or suck two times worse...
Seriously, this is like my dream game... and for the first time, I have the system to run it. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Oh yea - and don't those SMGs/ARs look like a modded version of the Doom 3 assault rifle? Like, insanely close? I never knew Quake 2 and Doom 3 took place in the same universe, but I guess they're far enough apart in the timelime that it's possible.

Behold, the power of alphas? Must I show quake1 maps on the doom engine? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
*Dies suddenly due to ****ing irony having it out for me*
Perhaps that the Doom 3 and Quake 4 situation is an event that recently happened in ET:QW and so hence the familiar SMG. However, why dont they use Quake 4 rifles?
They KNOW what they are doing, they just got dumped because the maps in ET were too complex.
